I have loved dance for as long as I remember. I never had formal training and have always been too shy to join many classes ( have done 3 belly dance classes). I love the athleticism and grace of pole dancing and have decided to start, regardless of the doubts I have about my body, sexuality, opinion of others etc.

I have the space finally and the money to get a quality pole. I have looked at the X-Poles and my main question is the difference that diameter makes. I am 5’6 and now 125lbs (quite drinking beer and amazing things happen).I am ready to invest in my dreams but want to be informed and know what I am getting in to. I am all about safety and proper form.

Anyway. I am ready to start my journey and could use some advice in picking the appropriate pole. I am so excited about starting online lessons and practicing at home, especially after taking a "taster" class at a studio downtown (my crazy night schedule doesn’t allow me to go regularly but I hope that will change eventually).

Thank you to all members on this site who have braved youtube to bring to my attention that I am normal, healthy, and can dance just for me.

Cheesy but I am going through my quarter life crisis so big decisions about empowerment have left me breathless.

Thanks for the advice and support, looking forward to continuing membership.

Welcome!! What are you hoping to do with your pole dancing? This will help you decide on what size to get. If you only plan on poling at home the 45mm is great. BUT if you have the tiniest feeling that you might want to take a pole class, compete or dance in a club then go with the 50mm If you live in the US. 50mm is standard here in America and I think Canada too, but I’m not sure. If you learn on a larger size you can dance on any size pole with no problem, its much more difficult to switch from small to large. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

    Welcome to the site!

I agree with Veena…it depends on what you want to do with your poling!

I believe the majority of us on here have 50 mm X-poles and love em!

Thanks for the info and support. My dad made me drive a stick first while learning to drive for the same reasons haha. I will go with the 50". I think I have to take a ceiling fan out to have enough space but it’s going to be worth it.

    Thanks!
