OK, Koba, I can try! You know what I need? I need a harness like luvlee had in one of her vids, except on my hips so that it can hold me while I figure out what goes where!!

it helped me a lot to film myself to get this trick. so I could slowly correct my position step by step until i felt balanced

@ Sparrow- I'm totally getting ideas about rigging a harness up around our hips…I can sit at the top of the pole and when you go up, I'll grab the tie around your waist and hold you up.  I think it's doable on our poles.  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

hmmm. ok so had a pole flight club last night, and finally remembered that i wanted to try this. true grip actually hurt my top wrist but i did have success with split grip.

came back here and watched other people's videos and realized that i was doing it really differently! instead of sliding the bottom arm down all the way, i was starting with a bent arm, pushing out, and then straighening and sliding the hand down to the right spot. so i was ending with my chest much further away from teh pole, and i was ending totally vertical (like a SG ayesha) instead of the twisted torso i'm seeing in your vids…. must re-try and see if it's easier the other way, i was only able to manage it once successfully. also didn't have any video i think that it would have helped to figure out wtf i was doing wrong each time, haha.

I wanted to post an update – after a few times practicing this I am having much more success getting into it from the outside leg hang.

Empyrean, any tips you can offer on getting into it from the leg hang? I'm still struggling with this move – it's so disheartening that every time I try it, I get absolutely no further than the previous times I've tried it:( One of my instructors managed to get it a couple of tries after I'd explained it to her and her sister who also poles came to our studio a few weeks later and did it first time! And even though she's tiny and ridiculously good and strong at pole, it still made me sad:(

Funny I actually saw one of Marion Crampe doing it from the outside leg hang it but it's not on her page now. I asked her about it and she thought AMBER posted it recently but I still can't find it anywhere!

The thing about doing it from the knee hold is that I felt more familiar with it as it felt a bit similar to turning into the butterfly so it was easier for me that way>

I still prefer the Chinese/True grip as I feel I have more room behind my arm for my leg but everyone is different.

You have to remember to turn your upper torso down and make certain your hips are over your head, and piked up a bit too, even a bit higher than your legs.

Oh and be careful of the placement of your bottom hand not to place it too low – a bit higher so that you can push out and away from the pole instead of reaching/stretching down which brings your body closer to the pole.
