Okay I’ve only been poling since around December. All that I know I’ve learned from Veena. I don’t have any pole buddies and have never been to a class. I feel like I’ve learned so much from here, but I wanted some one on one guidance and support, so I can see where I truly am at and someone to critique me (the boyfriend thinks I’m doing great….like there would of been another answer, lol) Anyway my boyfriend is a mechanic and worked on a personal trainer’s car. Trainer said he is friends with an instructor…. She calls and is coming over tomorrow to work with me for 1 1/2 hours for free 🙂 she charges $35 an hour if I want to continue with her at my house, which seems very inexpensive (friend of a friend bargain?) Anyways can you all give me some advice on what to expect from her and how personal classes go? I’m so excited and so nervous too. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys?

I take private classes. the first lesson they saw what I was already able to do. From there I told them what my goals were. We built a plan on how to get to those goals, what moves I needed to learn. overall I found that I advanced quickly with private instruction. If you are doing one on one I feel like you should give the person an idea of what your goals are too so they know what directions to take you 🙂 I hope tomorrow goes well 🙂

Since you have learned from Veena and her teaching concepts, that will give you an idea. There are many people who “teach” pole but miss a lot of the important part of pole, technique, etc. I agree with Wcox, give her an idea of what your goals are. Her price is great, but only if it benefits you and doesn’t end up just a pole jam. Privates are great, especially at a great rate. Good luck and really hope it works out for you!!

Let us know how the class went! 🙂

I’ve never taken pricate lessons but in the studio where I go sometimes I’m alone so that’s a great oportunity to practice something I want and have my teacher help me. I think the most important think is to feel comfortable with her and to trust her (she will know all the problems you will have like “nop, my hand doesn’t want to let go”, or thinks like that, hehe).

    Good luck!

Make sure she really understands progression and doesn’t push you to work on something because it’s trendy! She should be able to give you variations for things if you need more or less of a challenge with a move. Also she should insist you warm up, and don’t forget to stretch the forearms after every session! Have a fun time 😊😊

Veena I usually warm up and stretch for 45 min before privates bc it’s $70-90 per session in my area so I don’t want to waste time. If there is a special warm up for the move required I will ask before hand. But yes I want to benefit from it bc I’m paying.

What I’m trying to say here, when I pick someone to couch me I already studied under them, also I’ve seen them perform and I know what to expect or hope to get.
I came to this wonderful site because of injury and when I signed for Veena’s lessons I knew why it happened. I was able to reassess all my moves and reteach myself here and I’m not leaving this site no matter who I will train with. Everything I do with them I recheck here. I always get it better after I listen to a lesson and do all Veena’s requirements for the move. Hands on with instructor is a very valuable time because they are right there beside you and they know how to help you but Veena’s info is so irreplaceable in terms of being properly educated what does it take to perform the move, is your body ready for it. And this saves you money and time and not to forget to mention injuries. I don’t trust instructors as much as I trust my body and the knowledge I was able to gather here from Veena’s conditioning and lessons.
So you have lessons and know now how to compare

I totally agree 100% with you! This is the most informative sight you could ask for. I was just wanting a little hands on in person for some feedback. The girl was good and I think she can help me work on some transition moves and stretching for splits. I bragged about thus site and she is going to do the trial and maybe join as well. I’ll be working with her twice a month. PS she was very impressed with all that I have learned on my own thanks to Veena’s site.
