Aerial Silks!!!
Posted by stainless on September 29, 2009 at 5:25 amI know this is not POLE related but I need some help… Does anyone know of a studio near Tallahassee, Florida (near Panama City or Jacksonville) that teaches aerial silks?

I favor this post…I am looking for one in Indianapolis, IN- or close to there. Would possibly be interested in going back to Chicago for a weekend with the family for this one. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

shame you’re not in Wellington, New Zealand – we’ve just started up a silks class.
to make you want to do it even more, here’s our tutor performing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edOU5_mxDhkSHe also teaches our Burlesque class.

I’m going soon. I live in Richmond va and the closest one I’ve researched online is in D.C. Look up New York Trapeze School. Maybe they have more.

MAN! Last night I was doing a search on aerial stuff- to find out about home rigs and I came across a site that had some links. I wish I could remember.
Try googling aerial silks or aerial hoop. Aerial arts seems to be going mainstream so even if you cannot get silks I’d suggest trapeze or aerial hoop/lyra.

I did an Aerial Silks workshop here in the UK a few weeks back. It’s so much fun, but I didn’t expect it to be so difficult! The amount of upper body strength required is immense. Going to do it again tho https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Me too!! I would LOVE to try out aerial silks! I can’t find anything close to Indianapolis, IN https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

if you can’t find a place that does lessons, buy some and learn yourself! We don’t have anyone that does them in the island I live on, so I bought some and am learning at the mo, and they aren’t too expensive either! Plus there is a really good french book on how to do all the move / drops https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I am having my fiance install silks in the living room near my pole. If I wanna do silks I can take my pole down and vise versa. He is also going to put a static trapeze on the patio for me! I wish my parents had put me in circus when I was a kid. It seems like I am making up for lost time trying to do this now when I will be 30 in a couple of months!

How doy you install silks in your living room? I want do it too, I read that it is possible with bag swivel (boxing)

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif wow i looked at the Aerial silk video on you tube and also checked out a beautiful trapeze vid and isn’t it amazing how simmilar they all are with pole akrobatics??
i mean anyone who thinks pole dancing isn’t a sport like anything els we should definitly show them videos of trapezes and the silks no? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif -
cbr600girl – I know what you mean! LOL I’m 50 and take a pole class once a week. I took a trapeze workshop a few weeks ago and start a beginner’s aerial silks class in November. My friends ask if I’m going to run away with the circus LMAO!

I have been taking Aerial classes since the second or third week of August and while I am not too good right now, I am seeing definite benefits with taking the class in conjunction with pole dancing. I am loving it. It’s harder than pole but with Aerial arts you are required to use your strength because they move, so I am noticing that I have increased strength and stamina on the pole, plus some moves that I just couldn’t do before I can.

I love silks – so pretty – I have been taking tissu lessons here and there but it is sooooooooo hard https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I have also been taking aerial yoga – which is much easier but really great for getting good stretches in. There are lots of home aerial yoga units that you could look into online to maybe use as a starting point.
Also there are a bunch of aerial groups or circus groups on Facebook you could join for info.
plus here are a few links:

It’s in Chicago, but it’s amazing! They offer a free silks class the second Saturday of each month.
I went to their free trapeze class and it’s so much fun.
