Posted by Rose1983 on August 29, 2012 at 9:27 am

Anybody know of a pole/ aerial silks studio or gym in Akron Ohio? My friend is moving there and she does aerial silks and I do pole and I plan on visiting her.
    Thanks

There is not anything in Akron.  There are silks in Chardon and Cleveland though.

There is Akron Pole in Akron but as many times as I have contacted them to come for a visit they have never contacted me back.  JLynn87 on here has a small studio at her apartment where she teaches privates.  Besides that you really only have Cleveland.

If you have any questions at all just send me a message.  I have been to all of the studios pretty much in NE Ohio and will give you their strengths and what style they cater to.

Is that jasmine dragons place mostly for kids? I only see one pole class on their schedule and the Akron pole studio web site doesn’t seem to exist anymore are they still open?

Jasmine Dragons does cater more to kids but he has a few aerial classes in the evenings too.  He does both lyra and silks.  Not sure if you get pole spin magazine or not but his son and the kids from JD have been in it a few times and they are the ones who opened APFC last year.  This is Swift and Matt up in Detroit last year:

Matt is the one wearing the hat.  He is the owner of JD with his son.

As for Akron Pole Dance, I have no idea.  As I said, I have contacted them several times in the past to come down and check out the studio and never got a response, neither from email nor contacting them through facebook.

Matt's style is more acro/circus, if you did not figure that out already.

Aerial at Sokol is in a huge gym and the last time I went there were a lot of people.  (To me it seemed like too many).  Her rigging is higher and expect to be there LATE into the evening if you can stay.

Cleveland Exotic was trying to have monthly pole jams on Friday nights.  I think it died down a little over the summer but I expect that they will pick back up once fall hits.  We also have a facebook group so if you send me a message I can friend you and add you.  We generally post events on that page.  Last weekend a bunch of girls performed at a show and we are also having the pole put up at the beginning/end of Cleveland Slut Walk next month (as requested by the organizers).
