I’ve been trying to get the allegra for what seems like forever. I’ve built up the strength to do it but can’t get past the pain of the pole digging into my back. Has anyone else had this problem?

I get into from a flatline Scorpio and the pole just seems like it’s in the wrong position and my back just gets in the way. Anyone got any tips on how to manouver myself so the pole doesn’t dig in so much?

I’ve tried lowering myself down by my arm to try and arch my back more so it doesn’t dig in so much but had no luck as I can’t even get to the stage where I’m down low enough to begin arching my back cos the poles in the way… If that makes sense!

Any tips or new ways to get into it so my backs in a slightly different position are most welcome

I also have the problem where the digging in my back feels like my kindeys are going to explode.

i never had this problem, but maybe you could try it from a jade. i think you´ll be a bit more vertical then.

the closer you have the pole to a hip hold (RIGHT IN YOUR HIP), the less it will require a super back arch going into it.

when you go into it from a flatline, have you tried keeping your torso up (with a tight knee hook) and then releasing your torso down (after you've gripped the pole) and turning your back to the pole immediately, even slightly before you unhook the knee?

i find that unhooking the inside knee causes my hips to drop away from teh pole, forcing the pole to my back/side; the earlier that i turn and drop the outside shoulder, the less it hurts. keep the pole as close to your hip for as long as you can so that the pole isn't where it will interfere with your back!

different entries will help you! from a jade can help; the one that clicked for me was going into a hip key and then turning into a hnads-free chopper/hip hold, getting my grip, and dropping into the allegra (it's in my last video). but once i got the right mechanics in my muscle memory, and a good feeling for all the points of contact on my particular body, i've found that any entry is fine and no longer hurts at all!

i think the easiest way to get out is to hook your inside leg to get into a scorpio

you can also hook your outside leg to go into gemini– I actually find that easier than going into a scorpio personally! =)

or you can bring the back leg up (behind the pole) and reach up with the bottom hand to grab the pole and go into a pike/meathook

The way I’m getting out of it now is a sloppy pike & I’ve been getting into it from Scorpio so next time I’ll try to get out of it & go into gemini 🙂 thanks!!

    thanks for your replies girls

I find I travel a lot when I go into Scorpio so will try from Pike and see if it helps 🙂 My pole is very short so the less travelling the better… don't want to scrape my toes on the floor (again!) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
