This is a video someone made at the Burning Man festival by attaching their camera to a hoop and filming all the GORGEOUS hoop dancers there. Warning that since this is burning man there are scantily clad women in this video, the least dressed have bikini and pasties. So if that offends you I would not click this link!!

But I wanted to share this because what captivates me most about any dancer is the joy of being purely in the moment and the incredible person-to-person expression abd connection that can happen in that moment. Every one of these dancers embodies what brought me to pole in the first place. They are all beautiful, full of life and personality, and their confidence radiates. They display incredible skill, technically and artistically. Each dancer does impressive moves while beaming her own personality with confidence in a way that sends her energy just SCREAMING through the camera. And for me, being able to do all that in a tiny outfit, totally comfortable in their own skin, is amazing too. Anyway, apologies if this has been posted before. But it struck a chord with me in a beautiful way- I found myself smiling from deep down in my soul watching this and I hope someone else can feel some of that joy watching it too, and maybe think about why all turn to dance.

I love that, from the perspective of the hoop, the person is spinning inside it rather than the hoop spinning around the person.

What an amazing video! A great reminder that dance should be all about having fun & just letting go and enjoying the moment!

Is it me or does the hoop seem massive? It might be the way the camera's showing it.

I think (assume) it’s a handmade hoop from irrigation tubing that one of the dancers there had made and brought with her, so it’s quite possible the hoop was a bit larger than standard. It does seem a bit big, but forced perspective does funny things. I was wondering about the hoop size as well.

This is an article about the making of this video. There are several other go pro hoop videos out there as well. One has the go pro attached to a remote control helicopter and gets an aerial view of it all. Neat stuff.
