  • Ankle guards ripping ?

Last year, I ordered a pair of Mighty Grip ankle guards with tack to help protect my ankle (which was smashed about 15 years ago in a horse backing riding accident (OMG ! has it really been THAT long and why can't I pick "safe" hobbies ??! LOL) while learning to climb….I didn't get much use out of them before I stopped climbing due to pregnancy….anyways…I've been back poling for a while now and the top tack strip on my guards is shredding to the point I might as well just rip it off.

I know nothing lasts forever and I've been beyond happy with everything from Mighty Grip (flippin' AMAZING customer service !!!)  – but was wondering for those of you that have tacky ankle guards – how long did they last and how much "love" did they get before you needed to replace them ? Any tips on making them last longer ? I started out wearing both, but now I'm much stronger I already plan to just wear one on my gimpy ankle so that ought to double the life of a pair 😉

Thats where I am…I was thinking to order a new pair then do some reinforcing stiches in a "X"  pattern across the width of the top strip (which seems to take the most beating)….Or perhaps I can experiment with using some strips of one of the kids old rain coats to replace it….also tempeted to just cut off the top portion and deal with bruised shins. LOL…I'll see what I can mess about with this weekend and update everyone interested 🙂

We do have a heavy duty anklet that is available in small and medium at this time which has a heavier tack material. large size will be available sometime next week.

They are more expensive as the heavier tack material is more costly. The retail price on the heavy duty will be $24.95.

Since we do not have all the sizes we did not put them on the web site but will do so when all the sizes are available.

If you have an interest in the Heavy Duty anklets please send an email to sales@mightygrip.com and we can discuss how best to get you a pair to try.

Oh, and of course, if your anklets are damaged please send a note as well and we will replace them for you. If possible we would like the damaged pair returned so we can send them to the manufacturer to see exactly where the fault my lie in the production of the anklets.

    Thank you,

I have a couple pairs of these guys as well, and mine were all but ruined after about 12-15 wears. I love them so much, though, that I ended up just going at it with a sewing needle and thread and stitching them back together ;P I also agree with the sewing in an X-pattern to make the strips stay better – that was actually going to be my next step!

Alternatively, you could try wearing those vinyl ankle boots while poling?

I am afraid at this time we do not make the open bottom (to wear with Platform Shoes) with the  heavy duty tack material. If you let me know your size I will see if they can make one up for you to try.
