So as irritated as I am to hear that people actually think that the gym is a strip club, therefore vandalizing and harassing is in order, what I am wondering is, wouldn’t there already be a strip club in town? Does that club get harassed?

Either way, whether it is a gym or a strip club, both are legitimate legal businesses deserving of protection from weirdos.

I should clarify, I understand the business in the article is a pole fitness class, I just wanted to make the case that stripping should not be punished either bc one disagrees with it.

Did you read the comments?  Almost all of them are positive for the studio!  At least I was happy to see that.  I hope the people who are persecuting this studio soon finds something better to do with their time and I hope this studio will be okay and not have to close.

This is so so sad. And people are commenting about the NAME? Really? So disappointing.

That’s sad,it reminds me of when a strip club opened up in queens years ago, there was so much protesting against the place that they were comp driven out of the borough, only to reopen in manhattan,I hope the studio doesn’t meet up that same fate, pole dance not only helps women in terms of physical fitness, but it also helps women forge lasting,non-competitive bonds with one another,I hope the Knoxville community sees that

I wonder if anyone would assume a gym for men was a strip club if they called it "balls of steel" or "Chip & Dale's Butts & Guts".  Plus, 's points get me to thinking…I'm fairly sure the actual strip clubs there (a quick google search brings up quite a few) don't have to put up with nails in their phone lines.  So maybe the harassment is more about the idea of women dancing with a pole and the "strip club" line is just a cover for their own prejudices.

Yeah I guess the idea of women bonding together and empowering themselves still scares them, shame man, just a shame

It probably does have more to do with women learning to feel comfortable being sexy in their bodies while getting in shape. I guess that bothers people. I don’t know why. I am ashamed at the actions of my fellow human beings.

Its just so ridiculous. The studio owners and patrons have a right to express themselves free of threatening behaviors. Maybe the publicity will bring more students and they will continue to grow despite this challenge.

My god this is so ridiculous, hardly a strip club is it. And even if it was nobody is getting forced into going there!  My mum always told me" if you dont like it, dont look.  If you havent anything nice to say, best to say nothing"! To many judgemental, small minded idiots in this world!!

Absolute plain ignorance, it does not help that we have a case at the moment in the UK where girls aged 6 upwards are learning pole fitness they are dressed in shorts and T-shirt but people think it inapproariate so, of course, its all more negative outlook on pole dancing! 🙁
