Anyone have a permanent bangle? How do I protect pole?
Posted by EagleSpirit on July 13, 2011 at 1:24 pmI have been sized for a pretty jade bangle that will be worn permanently. I ordered one, and it is on its way. It will be a little torturous to get over my hand, but once it's on my wrist it'll be permanent and only removed if absolutely necessary (like for medical procedures where you have to remove all jewelry).
But I just realized something…how do I protect the bangle from getting smashed on the pole, and how do I protect the pole from getting scratched by the bangle? Can I use a wrist band to cover the bangle when I dance?
Does anyone else have a bangle like this? What do you do while dancing?

sorry, I might just be ignorant but I've never heard of anyone doing this… is there a special significance behind the bangle being permanent? it sounds really inconvenient not to be able to remove it, especially if it's really painful to get on in the first place

I had a bangle when I was a child that had to be broken off when I out grew it. It's a part of a Chinese culture..a bit outdated though. Have you thought of wearing a jade pendant instead?
I honestly do not think you should pole dance with a permanent bangle. Especially a round jade one. I use my wrists and forearm against the pole quite often. Witht he round bump there, your wirst and hands are not int eh same position. It can get int eh way. Also, you might crack your bangle which would be a shame.

HollySatine, the jade bangles are traditionally worn for health, wealth, long life, making positive life choices, and protection. I love my medicine stone jewelry so much and have always wanted something striking for my wrists. A woman came into my work wearing the most beautiful jade bangle which she bought on a trip to China and she explained the process. I was absolutely enamored with both the jade and the idea of the bangle being pretty much permanent – I mean, there are ways to get it off but it is meant to be worn full-time.
I ordered myself a single bangle just to try it and, if I love it, I ultimately want a "sister set" from yingyujade.com that will be worn with a gold bangle between the two jade bangles on my left hand, and I want a matching gold bangle on my right hand. I'd really like to wear two jade bangles with one on each hand, but I'm worried that I'll damage the jade if worn on my dominant hand. We'll have to see how much I bang this jade bangle that I'm getting while it's on my non-dominant hand…
Having found yingyujade.com, I see that she changes her bangles fairly often and has tricks on her website so that one can remove their jade bangle without so much discomfort. I'll have to try it when mine arrives to make sure I can take it off for poling.
Moonflower, I didn't even think that with the most basic spins, my wrist lightly touches the pole, which means my bangle will indeed get in the way. I'm always mindful of working on other techniques (like remembering to point my toes or engage my shoulders) and I completely forgot where the contact points are on my arms! Thank you so much for pointing that out!

I have one my stepdaughter brought me back from China. It sits in the box never worn because it is just too hard to get on and off and with all the physical things I do it would get in the way of too many things.

It would be easier if you just had one that would easily slide on and off. Just wear it anytime you aren't poling. I had to order some med alert jewelry, and I only wanted a bracelet, but knew that I wouldn't be able to wear it while poling, so I got a necklace too.
If the pole doesn't out right break the bangle, it will ding it up, and it is pretty likely that your pole will get dinged too.

I worn a silver bracelet that my bf bought me for our first anniversary. Its always a pain in the butt to take it off and a pain to put it on. So now I wear one of those wrist sweat band to prevent my bracelet scratching my pole and vice versa.
I think a sweat band can prevent your bangle from scratching/hitting your pole but I would think it’s a little too bulky and uncomfortable to wear it for poling. But, you can always give it a shot before giving up ^_^

I used to wear a power band, but it really got in my way on the pole, I can't have anything around my wrist. One thing you could do though would be to push it up your arm as far as you can and tape it in place with sports tape.
