Anyone tried Aerial Yoga?
Posted by Mummyof3 on May 28, 2013 at 3:53 pmJust wondered if anyone had given it a go? I have found getting back into yoga has really improved my flexibility especially in my spine. I recently discovered this aerial/anti gravity yoga and am thinking of trying a class. I think it would really compliment poling. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I have and I LOVED it! I have bad shoulders and things like downward dog are not comfortable. I wish there was a place closer to me that offered it. The closest is a good 40 minutes away and it just is not worth the drive for me. I even ended up buying my own set up after I took the class.

Really? So do you still practice at home? What’s needed for a home setup? You should think about becoming an instructor and setting up a class locally…

I practice it and have 2 hammocks at my house as well. Right now I am using the TRX mount that I have on the ceiling, working on get a better mount set up. Im lucky in that i work at a gym that has the class, so free classes for me and the instructors that we have are really great.
All you need is the mounting and the hammock and enough room/high enough ceilings. I put up a video of a few things i had been working on and learning at the beginning of the month.

I have and love it. Bought a swing for home and just built a Cedar swing stand for outdoor use. Love the feeling of being thoroughly stretched after a long day at work. Improves posture, eliminates chronic back and hip pain….best of all its fun!

I am in love with my Omni Gym. It came with a stand, it swivels, its awesome, I LOVE hanging up sidedown, stretching or strength training or just relaxing. It is definitely the best investment I have made since my pole.

I LOVE it. Started it at Crunch and back then was just doing pole – eventually bought one for my home…became obsessed now I do pole, aerial yoga & hammock and opened up an aerial studio

I have an omni gym, which is like aerial yoga and trx combined. I seriously love that thing to death! I like to just lay in the hammock and meditate.

Argh, I want one now. Coming and chatting on this forum is bad for my bank account! I guess I would need to keep young children away from it?

I know that I got one with the springy trapeze bar, it actually says to take out the middle spring for small kids to bounce in it. Kids love the swing. Supervised, wouldn't want anyone face planting or anything. Keep cats away from it, they claw lol. One of mine decided he likes to lounge in the "sky chair" we bought a regular hammock chair for under 30 bucks to keep him satisfied when the swing isn't hanging up.

I have been teaching aerial yoga/hammock since December of 2011 and it has changed our lives. My kids have played and learned from day 1 of having the equipment (they were almost 4, and 2 at the time.) I would never leave them unattended with it, but they know the ins and outs of it.

Aww that’s fantastic! Well all of my children love the pole and take turns to mess about on it, so much so I have to steam off their sticky prints every time I use it. I’m sure they would love this!
My husband got quite excited when he glanced over my shoulder and thought I was looking up bondage! Fun for all the family it seems….. I feel another Christmas wish list coming on! -
I love aerial yoga! I recently wrote a blog post about it:

Of course you can practice at home but having an experienced instructor who can correct your poses really helps.

I enjoy my Hammock, but haven't used it much at all for yoga. I have done some stretching with it though. My kids all love to play on it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
