Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?

Today is day 12; updating now although I won’t be able to do the workout until I get home from work because my Macbook is having wifi connectivity issues :'( which is also why I couldn’t post the video of me doing my first “real” move, the pole sit. OMG, just getting that one move for a couple seconds at a time really motivated me…can’t wait until I can do a full sit and at the top of the pole (worked on climbs as well, don’t have that quite yet.
So I guess those are my focus moves for this month; mastering the climb and the pole sit while continuing the 30 day program and focusing on stretching on my rest days.

That sounds like a good plan, Juicy Dior. Also, it sounds like you and I are at about the same level – I’m at the point of working on sits and climbs, too. Hello, Pole Sister. 😉

@AllysonKendal are you an Aries? lol you sound just like me. I threw myself into pole and all of its components: strength, ballet, yoga, flexibility, floor work…working on all of these simultaneously will almost ensure that you won’t be able to “master” any of them as you won’t be dedicating enough time to it.
I had to learn to prioritize. Of course the pole tricks themselves are the most alluring aspect of pole dancing to me so I decided to focus mainly on strength for now with a sub-focus (lol) on learning/mastering the moves. Once I have a good foundation with those, I’ll add more focus to flexibility because while I do currently stretch on my rest/rejuvenation days, I’m not so much focused on progressing in that area just yet…
So with all that said, I just wanted to tell to prioritize those goals girl, Rome wasn’t built in a day lol

@Cazzzz thanks pole sister! My initial plan of attack was all over the place so my focus wasn’t what it should have been. I’m finding that K.I.S.S (keep it simple, stupid) will take me further in the beginning of this journey. Good luck on those climbs and sits beautiful, WE GOT THIS!

@Juicy Dior and @Cazzz you guys are soooo right. I too made the mistake of focusing on too many aspects of pole (strength, flexibility, abs, etc) and found myself overwhelmed. So, I used Veena’s 30 day ab challenge to focus on abs and…drum roll please….I can now dead lift into my shoulder mount~! My goal now is to keep the abs going and add another aspect of pole to my regimen. It’s all so alluring, but focusing on one key aspect at a time is the key.

The support you all give one another is amazing! 💜

Haha. Juicy, you caught me! Fellow Aries here!!!
I know I’m definitely focusing on too much. And for me strength training is a bit boring.
I was just telling someone I think I need a TV in my pole room. I like music but I need more entertainment than just music… especially if I’m working on basics and strength. I think thats why yoga and stretching has been easy to keep up with because I do it on the floor near my TV and computer. 🙂

Vdub : when I can deadlift into a shoulder mount I’m gonna cry. I’ve been using visualization to forward my progress and I cry just imagining I can do some of the intermediate/advanced accomplishments. lol. Pole stirs something deep in my soul. It touch, moves inspires all of my souls…

@Allyson I find strength training so boring too, but since I’ve been doing this 30 Day program I have made such great progress. I just did my first twisted grip hangman air walk today and I am giving credit to Veena’s conditioning exercises for shoulders and core. Big successes make for great motivation to continue!

@Cazzz, hang in there. It will happen. I don’t know how Veena knew exactly what too add to her ab program, but it works! It gets tough near the end, but just keep doing it. I remember doing a lot of grunting and screaming the last few days of the program. But it was so sweet when I first did it. I wish someone had recorded the surprised look on my face. Oh yeah, and the one thing I wish someone had taught me when I first started is to SQUEEZE EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY YOUR BUTT! It makes the world of difference when inverting, shoulder mounting, etc. Keep pushing’

I think you just convinced me that my next focus should be shoulders (I hope to never lose focus on my core again). I love the hangman air walk.

@AllysonKendal it’s just something about us that makes us want to take on everything at once lol. I understand when you say strength is boring, it’s my least favorite component but with that said, what drew me to Veena’s site is how she incorporated the pole into strength based moves…doing the “leg hook side crunch” is OODLES more fun to me than regular crunches and pole pullups are fun to me as well because the entire time I’m doing them I’m imagining how they’re getting me closer to climbing to the top of that pole.
What also helps is the fact that the workouts aren’t long at all, you could do strength in a half hour tops…to get into the grove of it, try picking 5 exercises that focus on a particular muscle group (shoulders and arms, abs, legs, back, etc) and do 2 sets of 8-12 reps and bam, you’re done!
Only stressing this because I finally realized that strength is the most important aspect of all.
