Are some moves always painful?
Posted by HollySatine on December 29, 2010 at 3:53 pmHi!
Are there moves that are always painful for you? Does your skin actually get used to the moves that require a ton of friction or do you have to learn how to ignore the pain?
Thanks!

yes! i refuse to superman or allegra because i can only handle the searing pain for a couple seconds before needing to hop out and abort.
however, i have convinced myself (after doing a shouldermount into superman to death lay under someone for a drunken doubles pole picture at a holiday party and feeling no pain) that this is all in my head. so my new years resolution is to prove it to my sober self that a superman doesn’t actually hurt… if i just do it over, and over, and over again https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

For some moves I thought the pain would never subside! (and Amy… I’m totally talking about superman here… lol). However, after doing the move over and over again, not only did I figure out the best way to get into the move without twisting my inner thigh skin (ouch!), but it toughened up the area pretty well. Now, it’s not completely pain-free, but it’s definitely at a tolerable level. And when the endorphins from exercise and performance are rushing through you, you won’t even feel it anymore! I’m just now working on Allegra… another painful move. We’ll see how this one goes. But I can convince myself that if I can watch others do the move with a calm face (Like Veena, she can smile in an Allegra! lol), then, gosh darned it, I can do it too! Some moves just take longer to get used to than others. I haven’t run into a roadblock of pain yet!
Example, my first superman: (at 2:00)

Once I get in to superman I can hang out all day, it was getting into it that killed until I learned how not to rip my thighs open. Knee hold was another. It took me over 6 months to get past that pain. It does go away…not sure if it is technique or tolerance or a combination of both but it does go away.

Yes some moves burn! Pole sit for me use to tear me apart. Now it’s no biggie.
