So I’ve been trying to get the shouldermount body wave (saw Fleur do this in a video) and the mermaid which is basically the split grip hold but you do a body wave in the air.

I can’t seem to figure out how to just get my hips to move back and forth. Should my chest stay static?

    Any tips would be appreciated.

I can’t do the SM body wave (yet lol), but I can do the SG version.

For me the movement starts from the abs (arching your back and then ‘roll’ down using your abs), then comes tilting the pelvis, and then slightly bending the knees to match. Chest is mostly static, although that might be different in SM position.

Does that make any sense at all?

for the SM body wave, you need to be able to lift into the SM with no trouble and be able to do it a few times… for me, i think of it as starting a lift in a SM but JUST with your chest– letting your legs and the rest of you dangle as you arch, and then letting the wave go thru the rest of your body, allowing your chest to drop, and then starting all over. fleur can probably give you better pointers as she was the first to do it i think https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

the mermaid you may have more luck using a forearm grip with your upper hand– i find that’s easier for me– make sure you are turned sideways so you have more room for the motion. if you can’t hold this position stable for a LONG time, work on that first before you put the wave into it. i always think of body waves starting with the chest, even if you can’t get your chest ot move that much (becuase it’s limited by the placemtn of your hands) you will have a prettier effect if you can start it from your chest/upper abs instead of just moving your hips. hope that helps~! it’s a really tough one, took me a LONG time to be able to do this one and i still can’t hold it for too long.
