My ceiling is similar, I got my Dad to drill a large piece of wood up there into the joists, so no trouble at all.

From what I’ve heard the pole on artex should be fine, but it may cause bits of artex to flake off

Mine’s similar too – I just have a plywood board between the top of the pole and the ceiling, which also helps spread the pressure across the joists.

    Thanks for that
I think I try that with the ply, well a piece of wood flooring that I have left from an off cut. I think that will be just as effective
    I’ll give it a wurl.

Are we talkin about the popcorn looking stuff….if so I have used my X on that type of ceiling before with no trouble, a few small pieces flaked off when I scraped the dome against the ceiling while taking it down once… but it wasn’t noticeable. Just be careful not to get any little pieces in your eyes. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

I have textured ceilings, too, except they’re a type of ceiling board (darn mobile homes!) instead of the plaster-y stuff that you appear to have. You shouldn’t have any problems, it looks pretty smooth. Just when you’re tightening the adjuster screw on the pole don’t let the dome spin against the ceiling or anything like that. And if the stuff isn’t very solid, it may make some crinkling noises when you’re doing the final tightening on the pole.

    Thanks for the replies https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
The ceiling is level and I know where the joists are, and I’m not going to be upset at all if anything happens with the artex. I can’t stand the stuff, a complete pain in the rear to paint. It was my concern was, is the artex going to make the x pole insecure?
And from what everyone has said it should be fine.
If I get approved for my interext free credit card I will be ordering one pretty soon….. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

my textured ceiling was one of my biggest concerns before I ordered my pole. Who wants to buy an expensive pole and then not use it because it will tear the ceiling up? BUT, I put it up anyway and it was just fine. A couple of flakes came off the first time and my husband kind of just looked at me like i was nuts but from then on no more fell off!!! No problems and I use the xpole almost everyday.
