    Hi guys,

Just wondering what your studio does to market their services and get ladies interested in pole dancing? How do you maintain that interest? Most newcomers to our studio take a pole dance class first, but lately our studio is going through a phase where there are 3x as many fitness classes as there are pole classes. This leaves those of us who strictly pole in tough spot.

The owner feels fitness classes pay the bills, but I feel as if we have not put enough energy into the pole dance side of the business. I just feel it’s odd to spend several thousand dollars on new poles and pole silks, and then primarily use the space for things like TRX and Tabata… While they do help with pole, I’d like to see more workouts specifically tailored to pole dancers. I’m hoping to suggest adding the pole fitness classes back into the mix, but we’ll see how that goes. Any marketing ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey there! I have a few questions…
Do you teach at this studio or just attend?

Do you feel like the fitness classes are more popular then the pole classes, and thats why they have added so many? Or do you feel like the owner is just throwing out ideas and making all these classes hoping something works out?

If they truly are more popular and paying the bills, unfortunately she probably won’t change much.

What specifically are you missing? Do you feel like because the pole classes hasn’t been her main focus the quality of instruction has declined? Do you wish there were just more pole times, or more convenient times? or is it really about strengthening and conditioning as its related to pole?

I get how it would be frustrating to want to take a pole class and look at the schedule and see a bunch of non-pole classes. When I was traveling last year I looked at a few studios and found a similar story. I wanted to drop in and take a regular intermediate pole class, and it was almost impossible to just find a regular pole class on the schedule!

I guess all of that is frustrating as a patron, but I suppose if you’re an instructor there, and you feel like she isn’t putting enough effort into pole classes, and bringing in new students thats also an issue!

Been to several pole studios in LA. Have noticed two pole studios do performances, one in-house, and one at a bar/pub of a theatrical show. The other studio throws pole performance parties, Hallowen, Valentine’s day, etc. The bigger studios advertise on Groupon, etc.to bring new clients in since pole classes are high. Finally, membership deals are very strong at one of the better studios, ex. $169 gives you unlimited pole classes for the month but it must be on a credit card with a three month commitment. To get you in their studio, they have $69 dollars for two weeks of unlimited pole classes. This studio is more like a boot camp studio, classes are tough, and they have many regulars.
