    Hi!

I am 5’6" and 260 (currently). I am looking at buying an Xpole when we get our tax return, but wanted to know how many other big girls out there that pole?

I found LuLu, shes da bomb, but I guess Im trying to find others who have had positive experiences with poling, even at a high weight.

I was in a burlesque troupe last year before I moved across the country, and want to add poling to my skill set as well as for fitness and weight loss.

Someday I would love to know how to do inverts, pole sitting and more aerial stuff, but I am SO out of shape, I cant even do a squat, much less pull my fat ass from the floor gracefully.

I want to lose 50-60 pounds. I love being about a size 14/16, and hate not being able to look or feel sexy anymore.

    So yeah…thats me.

Oh, yeah…Im so getting Veenas lessons!

You’re right, Lulu IS da bomb! I’m 5’6" and 188 lbs and I just got DOWN to a size 14/16 https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Some things are not as easy for us thick girls, especially some aerial moves, but we can WORK IT (and we have so much more to work, lol)!!! Many of my fave dancers on this site are BBW–shayshay, curvydiva, hannahpc and rmsf (rena) so you are not alone. We’re HERE for you girl, and you made a VERY wise decision getting Veena’s lessons! Welcome!!!

    *blushes* awww, well thank you!

Theres a whole company called Big Girls Pole Dance Too, the owner also runs a studio as well. CurvyDiva runs Curvy Diva Fitness in IL.

We are one big loving family here!

With hard work – ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!! I will tell you there were days I thought I was not gonna get anything. Then there are days where it all clicks.

I’m "5’2" and hovering around 190 right now, which I’m not comfortable with. This past spring I got down to about 176 with a combination of regular poling and watching my diet. I’ve been going to pole class one day less per week than I used to and haven’t been doing as good job counting calories, so I think that’s how things started to get out of control.

Anyhow, pole dancing has been positive for me despite my weight ups and downs. I started out in an easier going class for full-figured women. After doing that for several weeks, my instructor told me that I was strong enough to just go to the regular classes with everyone else (I was doing well with climbing to the top of those long poles…they’re somewhere between 15-20 ft). I had wondered if I was out of my league trying to do stuff thinner women were doing, but I quickly progressed. Within a year, I was in a level 3 class (there’s five levels at my studio). Now that I’m in level 3, I think I’ll be stuck there for a while, but that’s okay with me.

I just got my first at-home pole a couple weeks ago. It’s already helping me increase my activity level and my skill set. They haven’t taught me to invert in class (that’s only for the advanced levels 4 & 5). I toyed around with it at home, but haven’t been able to do it. I think my size is likely hindering me. I’m just going to keep up my strength exercises and hopefully it will happen one day. There’s actually a lot of impressive looking stuff you can do without inverting, so I’m not going to get down about it.

Overall, this type of exercise seems to offer a lot of mental health benefits. I do feel sexier, more confident, and less stressed. Going to pole parties and studio sponsored events seems to have improved my social life. Even though I’m struggling with a recent weight gain, I think does help me to drop weight when I keep up with it enough days per week and keep my diet in check.

I’m not telling how much I weigh, but I am also 5’6" and heavy. I love poleing. I am taking a break from it right now, but not because of my weight. I do invert, and have been inverting for quite some time. I can’t invert from the pole, but I have found other ways to get my booty over my head. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I can side climb and then drop down, which means I end up inverted but high on the pole. We can do this. Maybe not as "Well" as the skinny girls, but we can rock that pole.

hey lady https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I as well am a bigger girl here poling (gone from about a size 16 to an 11) and when i started i didnt have the strength to do a proper fireman spin, but im able to invert now and do all kindsa nifty things. the hardest part for me is my fleibility cause honestly i hate stretching (unless ive been drinking, then all i want to do is stretch and work out) and back a few years ago i had an ovarian tumor removed, but not before it got so big i ended up fracturing my hip…so yea, i gained a ton of weight cause of that (at 5’6" i got up to 215lbs) and yea im still chunky but i feel so much better about myself overall, and i know i have a long way to go, but thats what Veena’s site is for https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif there are lots of us bigger ladies out there and if you want to go for it then do it!

Im not sure if I qualify here…I’m 5’7" and about 145lbs but when I go to my class I certainly FEEL big…my instructor and some of the other girls that are REALLY good all seem very tiny…I wouldnt say Im "fat" but I have a big build and I just feel like I dont look as graceful as some of the smaller girls….. I dunno….is it just a matter of building strength the get added control?

Ill give my stats (again Lulu has no shame). Im 5’4 260lbs (yep the wii reminded me Im a chubby chubby). All my strength before pole was in my legs. I have been playing sports since I was 8. Youd think I have sick looking body but b/c I love food way too much, im still a happy curvy gal!

You have to remember your hauling alot of weight inverted – its your body against the pole. Think about climbing trees and such as a kid. What really helped was upper body exercises, I was able to land more moves that way.

I LOVE stretching!! I will spend 30-40min stretching everything! I have a new obsession with my foam roller – OMG my husband has been fired from massage duty b/c of the roller.

    You guys are amazing!

Ive decided on getting the Xpole Xpert, because it might be fun for the spin feature and it seems that most people have good things to say about it.

Im looking forward to getting to know everyone, and to record my progress here as well.

My brother in law has a bowflex and lives 3 houses down from me, so I am going to go and use it a couple times a week for upper body strength as well as everywhere else. May have to get a foam roller too, sounds amazing!!

About 4 or 5 years ago, I worked as a dancer in a topless bar for the fun of it. I guess I wanted a life experience…they didnt have pole fitness in my town then…I hadnt even heard of it, much less having your own pole lol.

I was about 225 when I started that, and working 8 hours a day, in 3 to 5 minute intervals every 15 minutes really shapes you up fast lol.

I love tribal fusion and gothic bellydance, even thought I was neer really good at it, I learned what I know from videos.

Started a new diet yesterday so Im all headachy and blahhhhh today. Ick. I hate this part.

Welcome!!! When I first started poling several years ago I was 278 lbs! I’m down to 225 lbs and want to lose about 50lbs more. Congrats to starting your pole journey! Just keep a positive attitude and safe pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Hello! I’m Jay…I’m 5’4"…was 260 and now huvering around 199/98. It took me TWO years to do that…thru poling, other exercise and moderation…But here’s the deal…I’m STILL and always WILL BE a curvy woman…and I love every bit of it. I can invert. I can do many of the moves that our curved-challenged sisters can do…but the best part…with all of this, we curvy-women can dance our asses off!!! Welcome to the ultimate in feeling sensual… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
