BEGINNER POLE DANCER AFTER BABY
Posted by Amanda3323 on October 23, 2015 at 5:26 pmHi all hope you are well. I am a beginner pole dancer. VERY BEGINNER! I have started a few things but my strength is not good enough to even pull me up I have lost all my core after my baby as I have not done much training. I am following the 30 day introduction on here. I am wondering anyone can help me with how many times a week I should be doing this and is is constantly practising or do I need to do other strength training beforehand ?
Thanks
Amanda

Hey there!
Many, many people begin pole without being able to even hold their weight up off the ground, in any position. This can be super difficult, and depending on how you have your shoulders engaged, sometimes a little straining 😉
With Veena’s 30 day takeoff, she’ll have you do rest days, which are super important! You heal, and become stronger, during those rest days. Appropriate maintenance and care of your muscles will also help you heal up a little faster- things like foam rolling, having an epsom salt bath (probably would be lovely for some “you” time, too!) and even having a shower where you alternate hot and cold (seriously, I tried it! Not so bad, and it helps keep the muscle soreness away). And massages, if you can afford them 😉
Most people find that working out 3 times a week is best for them- often, this is all we can spare! I would say that a maximum of 5 times a week, and a minimum of 1 time a week, and you would still see progress. Obviously, faster progress with more workouts, but you also want to take into account your energy levels, and your time constraints- are you actually able to muster that much energy five times a week? I know I’m not able to, and I don’t even have children! You don’t need to have worked out before you start pole dancing, as Veena has it all laid out in order- you start at the beginning and work your way through, slowly! Listen to your body, and find out what it needs in order to do the move safely, without any stress or strain, without throwing yourself into it fast and uncontrolled, and you’ll be well on your way 🙂
And welcome to the site! 🙂

Just keep at it and you will see how much you can actually do after a while

Welcome to SV and congrats on the little one!!!! You’ll find the 30 day program will answer all of these questions as you continue! Make sure to also watch each of the “Getting started” lessons at the beginning of each section as these also have info on how often and so on! Let us know if you have any other questions!

The only suggestions yoga teacher like myself would suggest is you might be also thinking or checking postnatal yoga topics online and with any medical or health pros, as if you are nursing and feeling more flexible in your body, your physical body has done quite a bit. This website has amazing lessons, am so eager myself…but I am teaching yoga part time and doing conditioning on the side to counteract office and repetitive motion with daily chores…impressed with this great community.

Congratulations! No advice for you, but just wanted to let you know that I’m in the same boat as you. How many weeks postpartum are you? I’ve got no more core either…but I’m not a beginner, just have no strength at all anymore. 🙁
I plan on getting back into poleing because it was a great workout for me before but it’s hard finding time to try and regain my muscle.
