Just a quick question for those who are or have been training their back flexibility!

When I attempt to do a good, long back arch (for training back flexibility) it's… not really my back that's doing any stretching. It's my abs. Is this normal?

I mean, I can go so far that breathing causes a deeper stretch! I don't, obviously, because I'm somewhat addicted to air, but…

Seriously, am I doing this right? I mean, I also stretch the muscles in my back afterwards by arching my back the other way, make sure I keep it low-key and all…

But I was just curious. It makes sense to me in a logical, opposite-muscles kind of way, but… I just wanted to ask.

yes that´s normal. nearly all back stretches stretch many different muscles.
once your abs are more flexible you will feel it in the back.
I often only feel it in my shoulders or neck depending on what stretch I do 🙂
