Okay, so I’ve finally managed to do the use of elbows backwards spin thing that Rebecca Starr does at about 37 seconds in the video linked below. Unfortunately, I appear to be placing my bottom arm incorrectly. I have swollen, painful lump from it and the last time I did it, it hurt my arm bad enough that I just kind of didn’t use it for a little while (lol). Advice or suggestions on placement or something else I could be doing wrong?

At first I thought that was the Roxy spin but it is not. That is something Josiah (BadAzz) came up with and I cannot remember the name. You may be able to search him on YT or FB and find a tutorial.

I have done that spin a lot, and it never bothers my arm so it may be placement. Do you have a video of yours?

I would say to practice the arm placement, and taking your weight, on static first, and then transitioning into spin. The momentum could throw you off, and I think if you haven’t got an awesome hold, it might pull on something you don’t like.
From the video, I’d say her shoulders are very strongly engaged and she’s creating tension by pulling her back into the pole with her arms. Top arm has the hold on the inner elbow, but the bottom arm is on the bicep and the inner forearm. Sort of like the difference between a knee pit hold on an outside leg hook, and the thigh/calf hold for an inside leg hook 🙂
That spin looks AWESOME, but I can only imagine the crazy core strength needed!

Thanks for the feedback. I didn’t want to do a bunch of arms stuff today with my arm hating me lol. I’ll try out some of the suggestions definitely. @jsheridan I’ll post a video and a link in this thread tomorrow. Also, no luck finding a tutorial. I’d really like to know the name of it so I can look it up by name!! lol.
