Berlei Sports Bras
Posted by portableninja on July 26, 2013 at 8:54 amAre any UK polers familiar with this brand? If so, have you worn any of their products?
I tend to like UK brands, and I am thinking of trying one of these:
Move X Crop Top:

Hey Ninja – while I am not a UK poler, and haven't tried the Berlei, I am Aussie, and we don't have the best bra selection when it comes to the larger boobies (I am a 32G) and so I often order online from the UK. Mind you, now I am in Canada I have more choice…
However, this is what I wear:

It works really well, and I haven't had a problem with shoulder mounting. I also run in it – like you I prefer to have on layer with pole and only one bra when running. This site also has a few other options 🙂

Ooh, I like the pink/purple combo on the Shock Absorber bra you linked! That's good to know that it's good for running too. My old standby for running is the Moving Comfort Fiona bra. It's not a fashion statement, but it does the job.
It's always such a challenge, especially for pole where less is more, but the demands on the bra are so unusual. If you're 32G, you get it. 🙂

Oh yep, I get it 🙂 And the whole shoulder-mount aspect – I mean, sure, I look forward to the point where I can shoulder mount with a woolen jumper on, but I am just not there yet 🙂 Why can't they just make simple bras with a comfortable crossback design, support, no cleavage and a minimising effect without crushing? 🙂
For something a bit prettier, I did try this:

I got the medium, and found that the underneath strap was a little bit too large (not enough to be a problem), but because of that strap it gives more 'room' and actually sits where most other crops on smaller girls would sit (not like in the photos where it sits quite low on the waist). No cleave, enough coverage… The back is ideal for shouldermounts too, and I like that you can tie it tighter – it also kept the girls manageable and has just enough thickness that I don't poke people's eyes out (unless it were very cold) 🙂 For pole, yes. For running, no. I know it isn't a UK brand, but still… 🙂

See that review from the girl with the polka dot cell phone cover? That's me 😉 I got it in a Medium too… I wore it in one of my pole videos. I like it and it fits OK, but not like a glove. The band is too big and the top part is a shade too tight. I find myself readjusting it a lot during classes. I do get lots of compliments and questions when I wear my Lynn to yoga. Everybody in pole knows about Mika, but a lot of yoga people don't. 🙂

Ah that was you! Awesome. I have only just tried it, so to be fair I may change my mind about it later. It is sort of funny though as it is marketed as yoga wear 🙂 Interesting – your review was why I chose the medium over the small… I am natural too and was considering ordering a small but it might be too tight then…
Have you tried any of their other stuff for pole?

Oh – and I just noticed in your video you tie your Lynn differently, do you prefer it that way than the cross back?
-
I've experimented with tying it a few different ways – the way I had it in the video, and the "normal" way. It's prettier and more secure when it's crossed in the back, but the straps dig in. Tying it straight across is a bit less pressure on my shoulders. I ordered a size small at first, and I felt like I was going to bust out. It fit fine in the band but the top part was really overstretched and made me look like a mom trying to shop in her daughter's closet. The medium covers me better but is bigger in the band. I guess I'm just between sizes. I've considered taking it in slightly at the band and then it'll be perfect.

Also, I have these. I got them to wear with a bridesmaid dress, but now I use them anytime I'm worried about "headlights". They're silicon pasties that adhere with body heat.

Ok nice – I might have a play around too. Oh yes, the wonderful experience of wearing a top that you think will make you look smaller, but in fact says CHECKOUTMYBOOBIESCAUSETHEYWILLBEINYOURFACEARRGHAGAHAGAHAGAAAA!
🙂
I have such overdeveloped traps that pretty much everything digs in… sigh 🙂
Ha – you know, I have altered many clothes in my time and for some reason 'taking it in' just didn't cross my mind…
I like the nipple things, that is a good idea…
