My doctor gave me some bad news yesterday- to expect my sprained thumb to take a minimum of three months to heal to the point where I can do pole or aerials.  Although I find this hard to believe, I've started trying to plan out a new workout cycle so that I can stay in condition if it really does take that long.  The biggest problem I've run into (apart from losing the grip strength I've worked so hard to build up) is coming up with some good core workouts.  I recently bought the Gaiam Pilates for Abs DVD, and I like it, but after doing it every day for a week, I'm already a bit bored, and looking for some alternatives to switch off with.  To make a long story short(er), I'm looking for any recommendations you have for DVD or internet workouts that focus on your core and are pretty challenging.  Thanks!!

PS – If all else fails, I've been told that anything I can do with my splint on is OK, and I can do a cup or Veena grip shouldermount with it on, so I may just resort to working on that perfect, straight-legged shouldermount I've always wanted!

Hi Elektra, sorry to hear about your sprain 🙁 It's frustrating how something seemingly so small can be such a nuisance!

I've been doing Bodyrock to complement my pole, you may need to adapt some stuff to avoid damage to your thumb but that shouldnt be difficult. It's totally free, http://www.bodyrock.tv, there's new workouts most weekdays, and it's high intensity so doesn't take up too much time while leaving you feeling like you've worked hard. I could do shoulder mounts and lifts straight off after doing a couple of months with bodyrock which I was really struggling with when doing pole alone.

Good luck, and hope you feel better soon!
