Blisters?
Posted by glitterhips on February 3, 2009 at 3:13 amIs anyone else getting blisters on their hands or am I just crazy and a terrible pole dancer? I noticed my rings were giving me blisters from the way I had to grip the pole so I took them off but that didn’t really help and now I have a few on my fingertips from various holds/spins. Any tips on avoiding this? I was practicing the shoulder mount today and I couldn’t grasp the pole as well as I know I can because it hurt https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I might just have to be off the pole until they heal but I don’t want to, I would be so sad!

Yes ladies…its normal to get blisters. Doing a lot of spins will cause more blisters than inverts and holds. I had… well I should say still have clauses after having be off the pole for months my skin was really tender. Something that has helped soften the clauses is using a lot of hand lotion. NOT before you pole dance AFTER and thew out the day. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Hey,
I have 2 calluses on each hand – one under each of my middle fingers. They’ve been there for 3 years and they don’t seem to want to go away any time soon – when I had a 2 month holiday they still didn’t budge, unfortunately. So I don’t see them suddenly disappearing any time in the near future. I used to put special creams and stuff on them every day before bed to try and make them go away, but to no avail. I’m glad I’m not the only one at least! -

Haha mine are too! except on my left hand it’s slighty to the right and on my right hand it’s slightly to the left…we should all post pictures of our pole injuries heh!

definitely, and i have them on my feet too because i dance on carpeting; one thing id suggest is dont pole with rings on- it could scratch your pole and ultimately could scratch you….im kind of a jewelry freak when it comes to my pole lol; "TAKE YOUR RINGS OFF!!!! DON’T TOUCH MY POLE UNTIL YOU TAKE THOSE RINGS OFF!" lol. if i won the lottery id take all of us out to get manicures and pedicures- maybe that would help our callusses and blisters! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I think my callouses are bad because I use Dry Hands. I’ve only had to use it since I’ve been coming to this studio and now my hands look and feel like a construction workers https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif It’s not sexy but I figure if a guy I’m dating ever has a problem with it, I’ll just ask him would he rather have a woman with soft hands or one who can flip upside down and shake her booty while she’s at it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Recently I’ve been shaving down my calluses because when they get too thick they pinch and even rip. I use the tools and products I have to give myself a pedicure like a foot file, callous shaver and even the Pedegg and give my hands a once over every week. It’s been working WONDERS for me. I think I’ll also start cutting back on the Dry Hands though cuz when it’s bad, its BAD!

Hey girlies!
(Sascha I laughed at your post cause Im a jewellery freak when it comes to my pole too! I dont even let anyone leave their belt on if they’re having a go on my pole!)
Glitter, my hands were covered blisters and now they’re covered in callouses and Im so glad that Im not alone! Ive given up trying to get rid of them cause everytime I do the little fuckers just come back again! I have actually grown to embrace them because my hands dont hurt on spins anymore cause they’re all tough!! My feet are also really rough cause I have carpet in what is now known as my ‘pole room’ instead of my ‘spare room’ as it was known before!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif -

That goes ditto for me!!! Mine started showing up around the 3rd day of poling (only been a week for me). I kinda freaked out about it until I realized that they helped with my grip. So maybe that’s our body’s way of giving us the assist we need? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I love all the marks, bruises, and pains that I have. They comemorate my journey! Like battle scars LOL

Mine too!!! Thats where awesome people get calluses. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_batman.gif I never got them until I started using my gold titanium X pole. I also never remember getting pole burn from a brass pole, but I did when I started using my Xpole. I find it odd though because my xpole is slicker then a brass.

the best part is when the calluses peel. sometimes you can get the entire thing to lift off and ta-da! fresh skin underneath, ready to calus again! fun stuff.
