Im sure everyone has bee at this point before…..Today i decided to attempt to do the elbow stand. I 've been avoiding this move for a while simply because of the whole blood rushing to head fear. So i had my hands positioned right, but as i started moving my bottom towards the pole, i stopped and just sat back up. UUUUGGGGGGHH how long does it take to get over that blood rushing feeling?  Is there a trick to avoiding it or making it go away https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Practice! The more you do it the better it gets. Also make sure your not holding your breath. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Go slow and listen to your body. If its something you fear, you'll be more prone to notice any little bit of discomfort, this can make it seem worse. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Breathe and get up slowly.  Make sure you stay down and get a good deep breath in and out first, then as you sit up inhale.  It can also help to circle your arms out to the side and up overhead as you inhale.  Yoga breathing has made pole easier for me, I used to hold my breath in moves and get lightheaded all the time.

I also didn't realize I hold my breath on.  On a practice video I posted for help, veena commented with tips and one of them was "don't forget to breathe"  Now I TRY to pay attention to make sure I'm breathing, I even make loud noises when I breathe in/out so I'll know 🙂  With all the little details to learn something, I guess breathing is important https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif

for some reason I don't have much of a problem with a regular elbow stand, but if I bend my legs and arch my back and try to get my toes to touch the floor on the other side of the pole, that's when I get a huge head rush… :/
