I have a friend who has a brass pole. She says the reaction to sweat on brass is pretty gross–it creates a stickiness that's almost too sticky to function. She doesn't use it.

I have not heard much about the XPole brass since they changed the finish.

Oh gosh that doesn’t sound nice! It’s someone highly recommended them. I’m ordering a new pole tomorrow and I’m undecided on which metal out of the chrome and brass.

Blondebird, AerialGypsy did a nice blog about the different finishes. I found it super helpful…

Not all brass is created equal and it does get grippier the more you use it. I have a love hate relationship with brass…..there is only a small window when it is good for me. Either I am slipping or gripping so much I am tearing skin. I know the first generation xpoles were brushed but I think they are now polished.

Thanks alot for the replies. Think I'm going to stick to the chrome I think. I have a chrome now (50mm) but it can be slippy though, grr such a tough decision!

I was looking at Brass as well, but think it might be too grippy for my skin. I am going to be getting an X-Pole XPert Titianium Gold this weekend. I'm hoping it will be good for the humid summer months.

My mum had a brushed brass pole… I hated it!! Couldn’t get any grip what so ever! Couldn’t even just sit or climb the pole and it fustrated me so much!! So I never used it… Anyway she ended up selling it because we both where sick of it and quite disappointed as well…

I LOVE my brass xpert!!! I really think these things are definitely a personal choice, I would say try to have a go on a mates pole or something before you make your mind up. I would never go back from my brass now, I'm totally converted, but I know alot of people don't like them.

Yep the brushed brass x pert pole was a bitch for me, I was very disappointed, as after 8 months i sold it at a loss of $250, nothing worked with it for me unless we had humid weather, which is not very often for our climate! I am not sure about the polished brass, but I have been out off the XPole brass now! My next pole will be a 38.1 mm polished brass pussycat pole same as my studio uses they have awesome grip, which I love.

I got a Titanium Gold Xpole for my second pole and so far I really like it. I’ve heard some people say it is really no different from chrome aside from the color, but in my experience it is. I find it feels stickier when the pole is cold and less slick than chrome or steel when I sweat. There are times that I get “stuck” on my TG pole and have to muscle my way out of a move, whereas on chrome I would just slide down as soon as I loosened up my grip. You might consider that instead of a brass Xpole. It is also a lot less expensive. To be honest though, I also went down in diameter so I’m not certain how much of the newfound grip is from that.

blonde bird, I would stick with the chrome as well. I had a chrome originally and hated the grip so painted it. I have a LM powder coated and love it. I also have a 38 brass PS and it is slick as heck. I am getting a 45 chrome again this weekend for this reason…..if u ever want to perform, they are normally 45 chromes…..at least here in the states. SO, I need to learn on that pole, like it or not! Since your such a GREAT poler and ever want to perform, chances are it would be on chrome.

brass is tricky. You can either slide, have regular grip, or over grip. It all dependso n your chemistry. If you like the chrome, then go for it! I like my chrome 40mm. Worst case scenario is yuou have to add a little grip aid. With brass, if you overstick, there really isn't much you can do. Overgrip is AWFUL!
