    Hey Girlz,
I am trying to do the butterfly (this is not me on the picture https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)
I am struggling because my left arm, that supports my body and holds the pole at the bottom is weak.
    So I slip down!
There is no way I will ever manage an extended butterfly with a weak arm like this, and i am not even talking about the handspring..

So I was thinking that maybe my technique is bad. The strong arm maybe should hold the pole at the bottom??

    Thanks for your help!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_compress.gif

Which side of the pole are you inverting from? It sounds like maybe you’re inverting with the pole to your left. If your strong arm is your right arm, it should be easier to invert with the pole to your right, and left arm over the right arm. So once you’re inverted, all you have to do is leave the top arm (the left) where it is, and just move your right arm further down. Hope that makes sense! and don’t worry about the extended butterfly, that will come with time as you gain strength! let us know how you do! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

    Hi Azriel,

Thank you for the tip! I will try that..
I always invert with the pole on the left indeed, and my strong arm is my right arm, you got it right!!
I will try to invert from this other side and keep the left hand up, I may have more luck!
    I’ll keep you informed!
I did train a bit today but my back still haven’t recovered from the V shoulder mount, it’s still sore. I need to rest for a few days https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I struggle w the butterfly/ext butterfly myself I have done them both more than once, but can’t always manage it I do it from the I beleive it’s called half-handspring, but might be half-cartwheel mount into butter/ext. butter. I havent really tried it from crucifix will have to give that way a try and just keep practicing the other way just like in most moves you have to experiment with hand position til you find what feels secure/comfortable for you good luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Which ever leg you have on the pole…you should have that same hand closest to your leg. In my case, my left leg/ankle touches the pole and my Left (sub) arm is high on the pole near my legs and my right (dom) arm is closer to the ground. Put your strongest arm down towards the ground. Hope this helps! Practice practice practice!!
