Cameras for recording sessions under $200?
I’ve been wanting to record my sessions pretty much for forever. The problem is, I don’t know squat about cameras or tracking or anything like that. I don’t need/want something super expensive, I just want something that would be able to clearly capture fast movements (like say, the Oona spin) and have enough memory to record atleast half an hour worth of stuff. I’m also not sure if I would need an SD card reader or whatever for my pc, so any help would be gladly appreciated.
also, not sure what is better….camera or cam corder?

Vado and Flip are the most recommended. Converting video from a camera is a pain in the butt. Anything that can video in HD is going to be a good bet.

I use my iPad. I had a flip, but all new recorders record in wide screen, so i brought it back Us polers want the opposite, thin and tall! I found I like my iPad. If ur thinking about investing a few hundred bucks, u may want to splurge and get a tablet.

I found a cool one at Target for 140.00 this past weekend. It even records underwater! So cool. Cameras are cheaper than you think right now! There were ones for 100.00 too(cameras and video recorders). I have been using my camera on video mode but wanna change to better technology soon. Good luck. Let us know what you get.

Organic, did you get the Playsport? I have a Kodak Playsport that videos underwater and takes pictures. I have the Zx5 which takes an sd card, which I like. If you look at the videos of me playing on a rope in the river that was taken on my Kodak. Unfortunately Kodak is getting out of the camera business so these may not be easy to find. I got mine on sale for about $140.

The HD flip! Easy to use & great quality. Both my vids on my profile were shot on my flip. I love it!

Just offering another view on the flip, I hate HATE my flip and can’t wait to get rid of it and get something else. It has a short viewing angle and you cannot flip the camera sideways as the software has no way to rotate the video, so unless I am in a HUGE room I can’t get both the floor and the top of the pole in frame. Windows movie maker would rotate video for me, but it always compressed it to a terrible vid quality when I do that. I also am not a huge fan of the video software that comes with the flip.
I’d be eager to hear from anyone else who has this same issue with the flip and got something they like better.

I read that about the flip on a few amazon reviews. What other camera(s) were you looking into?

For me it was the size of the frame, based on where I could place the camera, that defined what I need to buy.

I haven’t looked into any other particular models of camera yet since it’s not financially feasible for me to buy another one right now.
I also don’t know anything about video cameras so I don’t really know how to search for what I want. I may look it up on Consumer Reports, they always have a good breakdown of the different models they test and I’m sure they’ve probably compared the flip to other cameras.
