Cameras/editing software
After trying out 15 different cameras (ARGH!) I found one that I love. The Sony DSC-WX7. It has HD video and a fantastic low light sensor. If you ask your local camera store nicely you can get it for under 200$. I am kind of a tech nazi and pathologically cheap and this as far as I am concerned is the best camera at that price point that you will find. I hope that this helps someone who is as lost as I was when I bought my first 5 cameras.
On to part 2 of my post, editing software. I tried out all the free programs I could find… They sucked. They either didn’t do what I needed them to do or they ate my video. So I bought one… Roxio Creator 2011. Not impressed. It’s like trying to edit video with a toaster. Painful, long, boring. If you could return software I would. (you can return this one if you buy it online from Roxio) That being said it works. It will take any video ( including HD ) and turn it into any format ( including iPod compatible). So it’s not a total waste, just a pain in the @ss to edit.I hope that someone finds this useful and does not have to curse their way through 3 major electronics stores to find something that works for them.
P.S. Shop local. They will ALWAYS give you a better deal (and service) than a big box store.
