Celebration or disaster
Posted by Tara on November 21, 2014 at 4:18 pmToday while I was stretching in my front split I heard a pop or a snap from the bottom of my butt into the back of my thigh. I’m sure I was extremely warm, and breathing into my stretches. It doesn’t hurt right now I’m just extremely nervous. Although I got down in my split, I’m concerned about the risk of injury. Does anyone have any experience with this?

yes, this is exactly what happened to me when I tore my hamstring. you probably tore your hamstring. ice it. take ibuprofen if you are not allergic to it. see a doctor. prompt treatment will save you from a lifetime of misery. for the first few days you will want to completely rest it. get in to see a physical therapist to rehabilitate it. do not try to do this on your own. you will probably be limping tomorrow and for a few more days. ice, rest, anti-inflammatories meds asap. so sorry girl, it does get better. you just have to be real smart about how you treat it. I’m so sorry! I went through this same shit 6 months ago, I am almost back to normal now but I can tell that my hamstring is not the same as it was before my injury.

Thanks for the information and encouragement. Of course I managed to do this when I have so much going on (as to say anyone makes time for an injury, lol!). I’m hoping it is a pull vs a tear. It is sore mostly at the top of my hamstring, and feels tight and (almost a dulling pain like a headache) thought the back of my thigh, and behind my kneecap. I’m so hoping I popped an air cushion, but it doesn’t feel that way.
I will get I checked out tomorrow. Thanks again for the tips, and encouragement.

that area is very common for hamstring tears and strains. that’s where mine was, top of the thigh/bottom of the butt. mine didnt actually hurt. it never really did feel painful just strange, tight, and like I just didnt have control over the muscle. it would do what my brain was telling it to do, if that makes sense. and the strange feeling extended to behind my knee. the only way I knew something was wrong was because I heard a pop while I was in a split. and yes, it was my best split ever! I was hoping it was just my hip joint that popped, and at first I thought that was what the noise was but I just knew something went wrong even though it didnt hurt at all. I iced it right away and took advil. couldnt walk the next day. not from pain but my leg just didnt move right. mine was considered a minor tear. it was very uncomfortable to sit for a few weeks. you may have bruising that will show up on the back of your thigh. hope you are okay and it was just a minor strain.
