I have a Chrome X pole that is far too slippery for me in these Chicago winters. I am wondering if anyone has gotten a pole powder coated in the Chicago area?? I found a few places to do it, I just want it to be done right! : ) Most of the places are saying they won’t sand/blast it down, They would instead apply a primer, then the powder coat. IS this the right thing to do on Chrome? Help!

I don’t live in your area, but did a few years ago get my chrome pole powder coated. If they are not going to sand blast it, they are going to dip it in an acid bath before it gets the coating.

That explains how it works. Also there are pics on my page of the pole that was coated. It’s titled “purple pole”.

Thanks! Did you assemble it and have them powder coat? Or did you remove the xjoints and do all parts separately?

They are going to want you to pull the pole apart and show them where the holes are for screws and other assorted things, so they know what to tape off. The joints, the base, the dome and the joints stayed with me.
