Clarifying X-Pole Presents: The North American Pole Dance Championships!
I wanted to clarify some changes to the Midwest Competition and Convention this year!
After some exciting meetings and additional sponsorship we were able to commit to some big changes for our competitions!
Last year we hosted the Midwest Pole Dance Competition which included National level Masters (age 40 and over) and then Regional Elite (pro) and Regional Rookie (amateur).
This year we decied to add a national elite division as we had so many requests to expand to include the rest of the US and Canada and Mexico.
However, there was understandable confusion about the names – how can we call it the "Midwest" and a "National" competition?
Additionally we have been working hard to find a way to change to professional rigging and standare poles instead of stage poles like we used last year.
It took a while to get this straight as no one in the Midwest has every provided rigging for poles before. Plus we needed additional sponsorship to cover this cost. After meetings with XPole in LA last week and several sponsors coming forward we are able to implement the following changes:
1. There will be two competitions held at the same time this year DURING the Midwest Pole Dance Convention which is scheduled from 8/24-8/26/12: The North American Pole Dance Championships and The Midwest Pole Dance Competition.
2. Titles will now consist of:
North American Championship Elite Division
North American Championship Masters Division
and
Midwest Pole Dance Competition Elite Division
Midwest Pole Dance Competition Essential Pole Division.3. Due to the late notice of changing the national divisoin titles we have expanded the deadline ONLY for the North American Elite and Masters divisions to June 17th at 11:59pm CST.
4. The deadline for online videos for the Midwest Competition Regional Elite and Regional Essential Pole divisions will remain June 10th at 11:59pm CST.
5. ALL divisions of BOTH competitions will be notified approximately by July 7th.
6. Cash prizes of $1000 to first place, $500 to second place and $250 to third place have been set for the North American Elite division ONLY.
7. ALL divisions will be using professional rigging with two 45mm chrome 10 foot poles.
8. The Midwest Regional "Essential Pole" was adapted this year to include more dancers from a variety of skill levels and amount of experience up to but not including the Elite level. So basically everyone who is not at the highest skill level can compete!
Moves in this division are limited to spins, floor work and floor/standing transitions. Please see the following link for specific clarification of this criteria to avoid confusion:
http://www.midwestpoledancing.com/Divisions.htm9. Online videos must be no longer than 3:30sec and unedited. Please do not submit longer videos and indicate which time to watch as we want to keep them all at the same time. However your video may have a lead in, introduction or "dead space" which will not count as part of your alloted time limit. In other words, time counts when your music begins and when it ends!
