Just curious if most of you go to a studio to practice with others weather its a formal class or open pole. I took a 6 week beginner course last year then a handful of private lessons cause I had no spotter at home. Seems like around here in Pittsburgh, PA there really aren’t any intermediate to advance classes other than if you do private lessons.

Any suggestions on learning more advanced tricks without a spotter around.

Not being able to learn at a studio really sucks. So far i’ve learned everything on my own from watching others’ videos. As far as safety is concerned, i make sure to warm up and stretch really well to prevent pulling a muscle while i’m in the middle of a move, since there won’t be anyone to save me! It’s also a good idea to use cushions when trying new moves, and to practice them as low as you can. Spotting in terms of someone physically helping you- i don’t know, maybe a big cushiony piece of furniture (like a lazyboy) could be useful when doing a move high up, so you have something to lean on or grab on to if you feel insecure.. i’ve never tried it though so not too sure if that’s good advice or not. Having a friend help you would probably be the best option, if possible https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif :0

most of the moves i’ve learned from watching others’ videos and asking for advice on the forums. my tip: use lots of couch cushions when you practice! also, make sure somome knows what you are doing in case you at home alone.

remeber to to go at your own pace better to learn safe and slow than rush to try the next thing i learned to invert from a squatting position on the side of the pole rather than standing so if fell not far to go i learned the thigh hold relese ( sitting on the pole and using just your inner thighs to grip the pole as you "fall back" w no hands ) by sitting on the pole w no hands and getting really comfortable with that before started leaning back def. use big cusions or pillows make sure your skin (not just hands) and pole are clean & dry i have never had a spotter for anything and there aren’t classes around here if you use precautions and dont try to advance too fast I think you will be ok just remember saftey first if there is a specific move your trying for I’m sure myself or someone else could give you advice for trying it w/o a spotter although if you can get a friend to spot you that would be best of all I don;t really have anyone to pole w my bf’s friends seem to be more into it than mine maybe bc there guys and they are use to swinging and jumping on things from when they were kids the girls try and get so frustrated when they cant immediatly get something and give up well good luck and let us know if you need help w anything https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
