Cleaning my dance pole
Posted by balletgurlie on May 13, 2009 at 2:41 pmSo this is day 2 with my dance pole and I’m already hooked! I’m sore as heck and I can’t do much yet but I’m still loving it! I was wondering what kind of soaps/cleaners everyone uses to clean their pole? I don’t want to damage it or cause rust or anything but I want to keep it sanitary and looking good! (right now it’s covered in fingerprints) If anyone could tell me what is good to use and what to stay away from that would be really helpful!

I like alcohol or windex (if your not allergic). You only need to clean it with soap and water on occasion if you start to notice build up. I like to rotate my cleaning, I use windex the most, but if I start to notice build up, or I’m just not sticking, then I switch to alcohol or vodka for a few days then go back to windex.

I just use any household surface cleaner I can find at the time and that works great. Have fun with your new pole. Cxxx

i always use rubbing alcohol in a squirt bottle and a soft rag https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif works for me!

I’ve been using stores own brand baby wipes and they seem to work quite well

a lot of products will create a build up on the pole, windex, no-scrub etc.
Methylated spirits (google it) or water are the best.

I have an X-pole and I thought I read on another forum that windex can remove the coating/grippiness on the pole . I have a titanium gold by the way but I think windex is probably bad for either one. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
I use 70% alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Works pretty well for me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

The x pole company was using windex on their X pole at the IHRSA convention I went to sooo…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I use windex and have never had a problem…but some people might have an allergy to it. If I feel build up happening I switch to alcohol for a while.

Hi,
I have an X-pole and I use a plant spray (spray can? don’t know the exact English word for it) filled with water and ammonia. My teacher advised me to do so and it works fine.

I was using alcohol on my pole and found it increasingly slippery … so I called Platinum Stages, and they said alcohol would make it too slippery, to se something like 409, not anything called "streak free".
It definitely makes a difference! I spray the cleaner on the microfiber cloth, I rarely spray directly on the pole.
