I had a great idea for a themed pole routine to enter into a “district” championship. But it has been done on an international level a few years ago 🙁 is it worth continuing or should I throw it out and come up with someone new?

    Thoughts!

What was the theme? And who has done it before? 🙂

I am not sure any theme has not been done before on some level.

You should do it!  Themes are a good jumping off place, but you'll be making it your own and adding your own spin to it.

Of course you should do it. Saying you can’t use a theme because someone else already has is like saying you can’t use a song because someone else has danced to it! I say go for it!

Well if the other routine is very famous and well known you might get compared to the other dancer if it’s too similar (or worse, people might say that you copyed it).
So if you want to usw it you should make sure that you add a lot of your own flavor and that the quality (music, costume, dance, …) of the performance is really good!

If it's just the same song but you had a different concept in mind, go for it. If it's a similar concept, but you feel you can do it differently, do it. Just please don't try to do the same song and theme as an already worldwide famous routine, it will do you more harm than good. I've seen copies of Jenyne's routines worldwide and it was not cool.
