Constructive Critisim Needed!
Posted by DanieBooty on June 16, 2010 at 3:24 amhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHSdSYSwzvY
This is me messing around at the studio. I’m new to taking pole videos! I’m working on putting tricks together and fluidity cuz it needs work! Seems that I get a little better every time I take a new video. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

You have great strength and awesome spins https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Just in my personal opinion, I think having a little more dancing and spinning in your videos would look much nicer. In the beginning you pretty much went from move to move-to move, and repeated them. I think it looks so beautiful when people tend to come down and add some spins or basic movements in between a couple transitions, and you have beautiful footwork https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Just my opinion though…I’m no expert.

hey daniebooty! i think you put together a wonderful video and i think it’s clear that you have the strength and technique for advanced tricks.
i think that the type of video or dance that you put together depends a little on your audience. the description of the video said that you were performing for an intro class- and i think that your dance was right on for that– you incorporated a lot of technical tricks and combinations that they can look forward to learning. i coudln’t hear the music, it was disabled, so it’s a little tough to comment on musicality or energy in your dance but generally if i’m demoing i like to keep it as exciting as possible, throw in some hair flicks, maybe a booty pop or two depending on the music/audience, and do WOW moves– big reverse grabs with lots of air, jades, yoginis, knee holds, etc. for some reason people who don’t pole seem VERY wow’ed by cross ankle releases, spinning scorpios, and really pretty pole sits… and drops like jenyne’s tumble thru flag, the holly drop, or teh superman drop into scorpio.
i would only say one thing: i think if you are developing your own style and putting together videos to showcase that, then i would work a little more on transitions to and from the pole and in and out of tricks. at your level, everyone can do the same tricks. it’s about what you do going into it or coming out of it, or a variation you put on it, that makes it your own and interesting to watch. a technically perfect trick done in textbook style isn’t necessarily captivating, but something new that shows your personality and your movement is– either the way you land it, the leg position you have, the way you time the movement in and out of the pose with the music, the way you interact with the pole and spin/slide/whatever around it in between inversions, a hair flick, etc…. on an extreme level, i think that what makes a pole dancer really unique is if you can watch their videos and understand their style, and then watch a video of them where you can’t see their face, just their body movements, and still know who it is. alethea– would could mistake her body rolls? or leigh ann’s hair whips and floorwork in splits? veena’s amazing leg extension? karol’s knee flirts as she goes into a handspring? amber– her extension and fluidity and lines?
just a couple things to think about… i hope this makes sense https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif you’re advanced and a beautiful dancer, but i’d love to see you really make it your own.

I dont have any advice, as im only a beginner.
I just wanted to say that i really enjoyed watching this video.
You are very strong. -
Hey hun, agree with the other comments re: you have plenty of strength and technique, so the place to add to is in transitions to connect the pole work together & add some variation… ie. floorwork, splits, handstands, pirouettes, dance moves etc. It also helps to keep the viewer’s attention since it shifts the level they’re looking at – high up the pole, down on the floor, mid point dance/standing etc. You’re doing great otherwise, just a shame we couldn’t here the music… dammit Youtube! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
