I ordered the Junkie mat too!
I find it funny that something named "Junkie" would cost hundreds of dollars! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Ooh, if I had a foam mattress to use, I’d cut it in half and then cut a slit from one side to the centre on each and then just slide the pole into the slit until it sits right then do the same with the other on top… maybe cover it so it doesn’t get sweaty? I’ve thought about buying a crash mat, but my couch cushions are thick and four fit around my pole like a treat. If I want them to stay together, I’d probably sticky tape them for that pole session https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif I spend far too much on lessons and workshops and workout gear as it is.

I’ve purchased from exoticdancepoles – got a black crash mat – it’s $150 and it really is great – it’s not 5 inches, which I like bc I can still walk comfortably – but is very nice cushion – from personal experience :-p

wasn’t cheap lol 245.00 plus 40.00 shipping but honestly it was so well made…my friend has one and I really wanted something that had some serious *pad* to it…it’s like a good gymnastics pad that it was worth it.

I can walk in shoes on it but I didn’t really care if I couldn’t *dance* per say on it becuase I really got it to save my butt or head if I fell. Very pleased with it!

I couldn’t afford one of the crash mats so I just went out and bought 2 inexpensive baby crib mattresses and place one on each side of the pole when I’m practicing new advanced stuff. Works great.

Oh no. I wanted a pink one when I ordered mine but could not find one! I got the one off lilmynx.com. It’s awesome and all. It’s just not pink. I could not find one in the U.S. for the life of me!!!! I really do recommend getting a professional mat though. It will save you!!!!! Pink Ellies… 60.00. Xpole… 300.00. Mirror… 100.00. Not crying from carpet burn on your face when you slide doing a bow and arrow, PRICELESS!!!!!!! Priceless, ladies! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

I’ve been looking into pole mats and they are so expensive, but I really would like to get one at some stage. The 2" ones seem fairly affordable, but do the actually give much padding, as they look like they’d still hurt quite a bit to land on from an invert! Is it worth forking out for the 4 or 6", or is a 2" one okay?

Does anyone know about decent pole mats in UK/Ireland?

has anyone used the round crash mats VS the square crash mats? is it all a preference thing, or is one better than the other? i kinda think the round one would be better since we circle the pole & all but IDK really. i need a real crash mat really bad! i have been using couch cushions but i don’t want to destroy them & the move around since there is no velcro to hold them in place so its not really that "safe", i can just imagine crashing down between them & that would totally suck! i want a 6in thick crash mat because i have cement under the carpet in my pole room & i really don’t want to bust/shatter my knee/elbow/head https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif so i’m thinking the thicker mat would be best https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Here is another option for you all.. These people were at the DC pole -also, so I had a chance to see the mat in person. It is super thick (5") and very sturdy. I think I’ll be getting one of these once i save up enough $$. They are $249+shipping. Also, there is an optional carry case for $24.99.

You can get an ergokneel at a safety supply store. Think they are only 1" thick, but they are made for standing on concrete and are super soft. You can get a round one with a hole in the middle, made for a fireman’s pole.
