Crash Mats
Posted by Elektra Vallens on May 20, 2012 at 4:56 pmI'm looking to buy a crash pad, and mostly I care how thick it is. Have you bought a crash pad? If so, how thick is it? What brand was it? Thanks!
I'm sorry if this is repeating another thread, but I couldn't seem to find anything when I searched.

The Yoga Direct mat. Bought off amazon for around $200. Love it and it is really cushy….I think 5″. Highly recommended by me!

Thanks Lyme. As that's the only one that's 5" thick I've found I was already thinking about getting that one.

I have the yoga direct one as well and it's holding up! It's nice and squishy.

I have the same pink crash mat from yoga direct. My bf bought it for me from Amazon. I've had it for almost a year and it's still in really good condition. Pretty much looks new even though I use it every time I practice. Some people complain about it ripping and tearing at the seams but I honestly don't have any problems with mine. Another Veener friend of mine has the same one and she got a little bit before me and her mat is still holding up well. I think it's a really good investment and has saved me many times. Go get it!

I agree with everyone else. Have the same pink mat I bought from amazon and it is so awesome. It’s thick enough that I feel comfortable trying new moves without the fear of falling and hurting myself.

I saw this video on how to make your own crash mat about a year ago…

I think they use two crib mattresses. I wanted to make this when I first saw it, but I only have one mattress. I always meant to find another one, but never got the chance,

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I've bought the same yoga direct mat we apparently all have.
@Chiffon – Thanks for the suggestion about making one– normally I'm really into making my own stuff– but when it comes to crash mats I think I'd rather buy because a crib mat might be thick, but not springy enough to really save you in a fall.
