Crash mat under $200?
Posted by HollySatine on January 5, 2011 at 2:49 amDoes an approx. 5in thick crash mat that sells for less than $200 USD even exist? The cheapest one I can find is $250 before shipping…Is this what they all go for? Am I being unrealistic?

Pole Dancing Shop has them for $149 plus $35 shipping but they are 4". I have not seen 5" thick mats, usually they are 2" or 4".

On my old computer I had links to about 6 different mats/vendors. I wish I could access that info again!

Not sure how long you have been on the site, but there has been talk about mats on a few occasions. If you search for crash mats you will get all sorts of ideas.

Im going to get the foam play mat that the kids use. Yep the one with the ABC cutouts!

I use the plain black ones like that minicoopergirl and while they are better then nothing they really don't help all that much if you fall from an invert. I was lucky and a very dear friend got me these cool mats that are chair cushions for an umbrella bench. looks just like a round pole mat with a hole in the center and everything. they even velcro together so they don't slip out from under the pole like couch cushions (which my couch doesn't even have lol) and they aren't quite as thick as most pole mats but they are pretty darn nice for at home use and used with the black gym mats even better!
and thanks again to that friend!

that friend was the very beautiful and talented chemgoddess herself 🙂 and I think she found them on craigslist.

I did find them on craigslist and then was able to find:
"They are a discontinued item from Frontgate. I have been trying to search them. The item was their "umbrella bench sofa". The guy bought a few sets but has not needed them. They were marked $100, he said he got them for less than that and had them up on craigslist for half that price. They are 3" thick and the covers zip off and can be thrown in the wash."
I know a couple of girls had a Frontgate pretty close to them and went and bought them at the store but I think they are only in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.

Additional info:
Frontgate's part number is 6730
And sorry, they only have outlet stores in Ohio.

Joann Fabrics carries 5 inch foam up to 7 feet long… THEY often run 50% off coupons too. I just covered mine with bed sheets, easily sewn together to make it covered. Since it is just for the house, I don't worry about needing vinyl on it, but you could buy that too to cover it yourself. Less than $150 for it ALL. If you don't mind a little sewing.

anna- do you know if you can you get the foam from joann cut to any size? i checked their website and this is the closest thing i found (this comes in a set size – a 10ft. roll – and a different thickness and it's only available online): http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?pageName=search&flag=true&PRODID=prd14653

Scandalicious – funny you should post that link because that mat is exactly the one I was referring to when I started this thread (it was the cheapest one I could find). It looks like it would be perfect but for the time being it's out of my budget. 🙁
