  • Cross ankle release ?

I recently got back into pole dancing after taking a couple years of break. Most other moves are coming back to me fairly quickly, but I can’t seem to find the grip in my cross ankle release again. I have gained some weight on the inside of my thighs and thought maybe that’s why it’s so painful now ? Any tips would be greatly appreciated !

How is your cross knee release? Try practising that, then go into a handstand from cross knee release, then practise the cross ankle release in the handstand position. That way you’re “safe”.

Chubby inside thighs should help you grip, whether that’s why it’s painful, I couldn’t say. Personally I don’t really like cross ankle release so I rarely do it.

It’s totally normal for moves like CAR to hurt after all the time away. Keep at it and you’ll desensitize to it. Being overall physically heavier can mean more pressure so more pain as well.
