DROPS INTO CROSS ANCKLE RELEASE
Posted by joni1 on December 31, 2009 at 4:07 pmHi there. Does anyone have any link to a vid that has a drop from the cross ankle release https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif I would like to learn more drop moves this year. I know how to drop from a knee hold and superman fall and am working on the sad girl drop from a pole sit. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif But i would like to learn to drop from a sitting crouch position into the cross ankle release or any other way to drop into it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif Thanks in advance girls. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Its not much of a "drop" per se, but I like to go into an advanced plank and then drop my bottom arm off the pole and fall into the CAR.

I drop from a pike into it and just try not to touch the pole on my way down, as that always shocks people a little bit who’ve never seen much pole. I’m also trying cross knee release drops…. Jamilla does one where she runs her top leg real quick over her bottom from plank and falls into cross knee release. I’ve also seen women kind of mount into cross knee release from some tweaked version of straddle, which resembles a drop. I would like more of these too.

MissJulie, how does the pike look like. I do the pike like the scorpio hold but with both legs extended straight like an upside down L. Do you mean like an advance plank? This is how I usually fall into the cross ankle release. I heard that there is a you tube vid out there of either Felix or jenyne doing a crouch in a ball position and then suddenly open up and fall into a cross ankle release. I would love to see that vid and learn it. If anyone knows of that link, please let me know. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

I believe the video you are referring to is her Miss Pole Dance Australia video. She does 2 "drops", one at about 1:95 and the other at about 3:15. Many of her later routines also incorporate these moves.

When I refer to dropping into cross ankle from Pike I’m definitely thinking of Felix as she does this as well, but the more dramatic version I saw that made me incorporate it was at 6:40 in Marlo’s Pole Superstar performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RN8QeFPfho

if you look at the video of Felix’s winning routine from the world championships (its somewhere on youtube) this year she falls into the CAR from a pike (not an inverted pike which is what I think you were describing?). Although I have no idea how she doesn’t bang the back of her head on the pole when she does it!

i do what jenn does- do the advanced plank and then just let go and fall into it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
hey guys, what is a pike btw??? i have no idea what that is https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

The pike is basically a pole sit but you hold both legs out in front of you, can be crossed at the ankle if you wish, you then move your body so that the pole is to the side of you and kind of bend forward and hug your legs. Does this make sense? Will try to find a vid xx https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif

I’ve been taught a wrap around/tucked pole sit/drama queen moving SLOWLY (no hands) into a pike (the same move, with extended legs) and then dropping into CAR, but legs up first to lock, then the body follows. I believe this can be made very fast to look like going straight from a drama queen to the CAR, is this what you mean?

That sounds cool Milien Elayne, I’m gonna try it. I was told there is a vid of Felix doing a fast drop into the car from a pole sit but crouched like a ball then suddenly opening up to drop into the car fast. But I can’t seen to find the vid.
