Man, the body never ceases to amaze. Been reading and rereading anatomy trains and onto reading stuff OTHER people have written about it and came across this blog/article on dancers which blew my mind.

This connects breath, grounding, and facial expression and everything subtle but powerful about dancers who are in their flow. I’ve posted a few times in here about the craziness of the diaphragm and it’s importance in breath, stability, and even imbalance of the hip flexors. But good god this takes it to the next level.

Thought the article would interest lots of folks here, especially since finding your freestyle is an ongoing topic/exploration and this article deeply and functionally connects breath, grounding, and pointing your damn toes 😉

    Ah. Maze.

    Enjoy!

This is very interesting! I find myself closing my eyes a lot when I dance. Don’t really know why. It just feels right.

AHhhhh! I’m one of those asymmetrical smilers! The side that looks funny is on the same side as my ongoing shoulder knot that I’ve had since a car accident as a kid! HMMMM!

More motivation to finallyyyyy work out that knot!

    Woo hoo! You’re welcome!

I have one of those smiles too, my whole face is actually VERY asymmetrical down to the bones so it’s probably a lost cause to try and correct it at this point… :\ (

My whole PERSON is asymmetrical. I decided in giving up and using student loans to pay for a chiropractor. It’s just so worth it cuz I’ve been in constant pain since that first car wreck. Was hoping to work it out myself but then have been reading a lot about how pain messes with your proprioception so even if I think I know what to do, since it’s hurting I’m not getting appropriate feedback to WHO KNOWS. But I found a chiropractor near me who shares basically all the same philosophies and processes I lean towards/similarly educated so I’m actually kind of excited to start the process and pick his brain

Great article! You’ve reminded me that I just need to get around to reading Anatomy Trains :-).
