Not crazy at all! I have never been able to handspring yet but have dead lifted.

I am confused… by deadlift, you mean… essentially an aerial/no momentum handspring, correct? I know there are so many confusing terms in pole. This is what I consider a “deadlift” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9Z3m9Bz89Y Anyway, I don’t think it would possible to do that without being able to handspring. But again, we may be on different pages.
Anyway… I always like to read the descriptions before I sign up for a class or workshop… There may be mandatory prereqs…. if not they may give you tips and tricks and things you can work on… or it might be a total waste of time and money. There are times I took things above my level and I felt inspired and there are times I took things above my level and felt defeated and sad.
Also I took a handspring workshop and I felt like it was too much for me. (I can handspring now, I couldn’t then) but essentially it was an hour of the SAME thing, or working towards the same thing… its really hard on your shoulders. By the end I felt like I couldn’t get anywhere close because I was exhausted and I felt pretty defeated. I much prefer a mixed tricks class. But that is personal preference.

Depends how strong you are. I learned to handspring before I could deadlift, but my little brother did a chinese deadlift on his first or second try. Granted, he has been working out for years and has above average strength. If you are not super strong though, I don’t think its worth the money, but if you have money to spend may as well.

Allison, you know what, that’s the exact video from the exact class I’m contemplating on taking. I’m not sure but I keep thinking I just can’t get the momentum and technique right for handspring but I may be strong enough for a deadlift like that? I must say I have doubts though.

Never know until you try. I have found sometimes I think I am not strong enough to do something, but really its by technique, not my strength thats the problem. I was not strong enough when I started training for the move, but I just kept trying and trying every day until it happened.
