    Hello.

I am new here to StudioVeena, but have been doing pole fitness since October of last year. I finally got my own pole about 2 months ago and I have been trying to do inverts. When I had done some classes at a studio they showed me something like a Gemini/Scorpio, this move, but at the 0:09 mark http://poledancedictionary.com/moves/308/bridged-outside-leg-hang/  .Anyways, anytime I try to hook the inside of my knee to the pole I just feel as if my skin if being ripped off of my leg it hurts so much. I can deal with pain since I can do this: http://poledancedictionary.com/moves/415/double-cross-ankle-release/ .

I know I am not doing it right since I have been trying to do this move for nearly 2 months wth no improvement. How far am I supposed to cram the pole inside my knee? I know I also have to use my hips to kind of push myself towards the pole, but it's so painful!

    Please help >_<

The first link doesn't work for me so I am not quite sure what move you are attempting. Is there anyway you can post a video so maybe we can offer better advice? I would also recommend getting Veena's lessons. Her lessons are easy to follow and incredibly comprehensive; giving points of contact, proper technique, variations and what not to do!

Here is the link again: http://poledancedictionary.com/moves/308/bridged-outside-leg-hang/

I could try to take a video with my camera, but I think that getting a close up for my leg won't work.

After a bit of checking online I noticed that I am trying to do the gemini, but don't know where to exactly use the `leg pit` area properly. I've checked Veena's video a dozen times and I never seem to find the right spot that doesn't make my tendons go crunch 🙁

What size is your pole? I find doing geminis, and pretty much any leg gripping move, more painful on my skinny 40mm. Your not alone.

    Thanks for the tips amy!

When I was trying to deal with overgrip issues with my legs, I put baby powder on them. Well, that caused the skin to not grab properly and I felt a really yucky, not good pain in the back of my knee. Could you be having this problem with not enough grip on the back of your knee? Try putting some corn huskers lotion, , or iTac on the back of your knee (all over it) to evenly distribute the stick and see if that helps. Also try it from the floor to get your knee pit accustomed to the pull.

also put the grip aid on your thigh…

you want even stickage between your thigh and knee. If your knee is taking all the weight and your thigh isn't sticking at all, it will hurt is a terrible way.

Firemuffy… are you saying the Gemini also is painful or just the Bridge variation? You'll feel more pressure on the Knee pit in bridge as you place the arms over head to push away. Like all moves the pain will decrease over time. You'll be more sensitive to pain close to your period so keep that in mind as well. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Eh…I feel you…I still haven’t been able to do the Gemini due to the pain…Odd enough, I found Superman much more bearable then the Gemini ~>_

    Veena, it's the basic gemini.

Firemuffy, keep at it then, over time it wont hurt so bad. I still have some moves that hurt, but I don't notice it unless I stop to think about it. Keep on dancing!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifOh, and don't forget to breath!
