I haven't heard of anyone getting a cold based on what they eat or don't eat specifically, unless you are sharing someone else's food and they have a cold. (Unless you're starving yourself and lowering your resistance) However, it is important to make sure you are eating enough and the getting the right balance of carbs and protein while training since you are pushing your body to it's limits. It amazes me how hungry I get when I work out multiple times a week versus 1-2 days a week. Protein is especially important after a strenuous workout.

Make sure you drink LOADS of water while you are training.

It is important to give your body the rest it needs. Make sure you take a day off of the heavy stuff, and instead focus on stretching and conditioning.

Could it be stress lowering your resistance ?? If so, you could try taking L-Theanine every day starting 2 weeks before your performance.

If I feel a cold coming on I drink water with Emergen C powder a couple of times a day and also take Zicam as directed.

If you are training at a studio where other's are using the same poles, you could pick something up that way.

Not sure if this helped or not, but good luck!!

I second the Emergen-C and Zicam. It has kept me from catching my families colds and flu several times this cold & flu season. I took the Emergen-c 3x a day and did the Zicam spray 1-2x a day. Halo spray also is great–spray it in your mouth a few mins before going out and it protects you from airborne germs for up to 6 hours.

I eat a lot of fresh vegetables & fruits and haven't caught a cold for so long now. Those fresh stuff have protein too along with vitamins & fibers. Don't eat processed foods and don't eat sugar. They're very bad to your skin & overall health.

What you eat matters!! An anti inflammatory diet is the rest so when your immune system does need to fight something it is equipped to.  Sleep is so important too!! Whole9life.com is the best website ever for nutrition!! I love it!!!

Coconut oil is great for boosting immune health depending on where you live and how much sunshine you get you may benefit from Vitamin D drops. Sugar weakens the immune system and can stimulate systemic yeast overgrowth which can make you very sick and tired so avoiding processed sugar is also a biggy for keeping health in control.

I will definitely be trying the coconut oil, thanks.  Very interesting info regarding yeast overgrowth and the link to tiredness and why is it then when you feel yuck you crave all the wrong things to eat too!!
