It just takes time and practice. I still do these weird arm movements that I think are pretty @ the time til I look back at the videos lmao! Ha…but we are also our own worst critic too so be proud of where you are!

Haha I know! I see video of myself, and I can tell that my arms/hands just do things of their own volition, which ends up looking unpolished and odd. If you are looking for inspiration for arms, I would suggest watching dance video on youtube or taking some dance classes. That's how I try to figure out what to do with my arms.

I hear ya! When learning a move, I don’t pay attention to what my hands look like. Once I’ve gotten it down and can hold it for awhile, I will look in the mirror and practice different hand “looks” until I find what looks good. Then keep doing it – muscle memory for the hands and wrists 🙂

Dinosaur arms!!!  I want to say there have been a few threads on this but a quick search could not help me.  I thought maybe Amy did a blog about it one time too, but then again, maybe my memory is failing.  I practice this when I am at Zumba (seriously!!)….it is just a matter of trying to keep extensions and slow movements.  I stroke the pole, run my hands through my hair, feel my legs, pretty much all sorts of suggestive movements, and I try to never have my hands in fists (this is really hard for elbow holds).

Amy did do a blog on it!

I swear bellydance helps with arms. Learning graceful snake arms and floreos translates over well.

Yes, I totally agree with recording yourself! Also if you're taking the lessons the NEW Routines section would be helpful. The routine lessons are all about flow and putting things together so you'll get an idea on how to use the arms as well.
