Ok so I haven’t been pole dancing much lately but i’ve been dreaming about me doing moves (most of which I can’t do but I figure it is good to have the positive thinking) but I recently dreamed that I (and this is future me who is a much stonger and more accomplished pole dancer who has a significantly taller pole) did a combo thing to get down the pole which I thought was pretty cool. The thing is, I think it could be done but since I don’t have the strength or control I’m not sure and I don’t know what (or if) it is called so here is the general gist…

Basically you get up the pole however (in my dream it was a basic climb) then at the top of the pole go back into a cross-ankle release, then reach behind and grab the pole into a Bridge (I think that is what it is called)but with your shoulder resting on the pole like you would for a shoulder mount except you’re facing away from the pole. Then there were a two variations. One was to go into a kind a front spilts and slowly release the other foot and slowly control the rotation down till you were facing the pole and then repeat it all again until you got to the bottom of the pole (it was a really tall pole). And the other was to still have control but go really fast so it almost looked like you were falling/flipping down the pole (almost like doing a series of back walkover like things but down the pole).

Sorry for the crap description but I’m not sure about all the names and I looked on wikipole to try and name some but some I couldn’t find. But the point of me bringing this up is because I wanted to know if anyone had done this and had a video of it, or if not and it is physically possible if someone could do a vid of it and post it because I would love to know 1) is it possible and 2) what it looks like out of my dream. Let me know

it sounds like you’re talking about going from a CAR into a bow and arrow. but from there i dont know what arm/hand grip you would use to control a descent.

I can see what you mean here… I can certainly see Jenyne or Felix being able to do this https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

If you go into a pencil and lean out, and stall with your body horizontal, is this kind of what you’re talking about? And then a fall from this back onto the pole? I know a bow and arrow fall is possible, and then re-seat and lay back and repeat… sounds advanced and do-able.

As to the dreaming, yes, sometimes I pole in my dreams https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Yes, I’d bet Jenyne or Felix could do it too. Now how to make them try it? Hmmm… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I don’t know what a bow and arrow fall looks like but it prob is pretty close to what I dreamed based of the few pics I could find of the static move, you would just do it over and over again.

The grip is what I wonder about too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif In the dream I’m pretty sure it was just the (double) cupped grip but I’m not sure if that would be secure enough. To bad dreams don’t cover practicalities like this. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Hmm you have intrigued me, I’m not 100% sure on the descending part but I wanna give it a go. What would the ending position look like?

In the dream it just was a cool way to get back down to the floor so my controled version ended in some front splits on the floor body facing the pole, but in the fast one I just went to standing because I think even my dream self was worried about injury from dropping in splits (I know people can but it always worries me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif ). But if you wanted you could always just end still off the ground with a pole sit or anything you want from a cross ankle release/pole sit since that would be the position you’d be in. Let me know how any of your attempts go if you decide to try it (but be safe too!).

Ah yes. That is pretty dang close. The main differences would be the legs stay straight throughout the move and in the splits position till about 1/2 then the second catches up to the first, you would go immediately into a second cross ankel release and repeat to the floor but at least 2x in a row (she’d have to be slightly higher), and if it was the slow and controled version (the way way harder one) it would be more of a controled decent around rather than a fall. That grip seemed to work pretty well too. I wonder if other grips would work if some people didn’t feel secure in that particular grip.

YAY! I’m happy that, for the most part, it actually can be done. Now I just need to practice a crap ton more, get super strong, and find a really tall pole. Hahaha, it’ll be a long while before I do but it can be in my future to dos.

Yay! Glad that vid helped. I thought of it when I read your OP.

That grip is good – you also mentioned a bow/bridge in your OP and I was playing around with this the other day and noticed that as I can down off a bow, I ended up in that hand grip (and dismounted in a similar way to the vid but with noticeably less grace https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif). So I think all in all there are a number of variations on your dream to work on. I look forward to seeing some videos of folk trying it (I’m way off that standard yet) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I think what Jenyne does at 0:58 here is pretty close too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9HO6PzkRIk

That is close too but instead of reaching around the pole so the pole is in the airpit, her back would have to still be facing the pole and the pole is against the back of the shoulder (same spot as the shoulder mount). But that is the control and straight legs I imagined.

So the positioning would be exactly reverse of the sm, where the hands are the same but torso on top hands on bottom? Hmm, if that would work I know I’m not strong enough to try it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I’ll just save myself the trip to the hospital and leave that for macho bicep ladies like Jenyne https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
