Looks like you could start with Bridge, then slide legs up the pole until just the feet are touching, make sure the lower one is hooked, lift off the top leg and bend at the knee.

Similar to Dangerous Brian from CKR.  It's just gonna require a lot of flexibility to make it look like this!

go into it from the foot hooked version of the layout. drop your unhooked foot, reach back and arch pushing into the pole. you need a SUPER STICKY FOOT to do this one.

Pink Puma does something very very similar, except for she holds herself with her forhead and extends her leg. I'm sure by adjusting the hands the forehead "hold" would not be necessary 😛

This is called a dangerous bridge. Alethea Austin does it. I took a private lesson with her to learn this. You start in a cross ankle release. Then you bring your hand over your head. You push out like a crescent and drop your other leg down toward your head. The more flexible you are, the more upright you can pull your head up in the crescent. You will need to let the top foot slide down more to get the exact position of this picture.

This is not a dangerous bridge.  Look at the hooked foot…the pole is on the outside of her leg, not the inside as you would for dangerous bridge.  There was discussion about this a while back…I will try to dig it up.

Agreed- this is not a dangerous bridge, because the pole is on the outside, not inside of the foot.  I don't think you would be able to get into this from a CKR.  As for how you could get into it- most of us can't do the crazy backwards lift that pink puma does in the video, but it might be feasible to get into it from a straightedge that's slightly rotated, judging by the position she ends up in after the lift.  The forehead "hold" also looks like it might require slightly less back flexiblity than the version in the Skukhtorova photo.

Is there a name for this?  It's super pretty!

It does appear similar to the dangerous bridge and also similar to a bow and arrow (with an altered hand grip).  But again as chem mentioned, both legs are on the same side of the pole…so different as well.

I love how creative this community is.  It is a very pretty move, and anyone who can do it has serious guts!

Wow that's a gorgeous move. I need to learn more things out of the cross ankle release/bow so this thread is deifnitely giving me ideas for things to request in class! Pls post tutorials of some of these variations if y'all find them 🙂

Well, if it isn’t the dangerous bridge, it’s ok. The dangerous bridge looks just like it but with the foot on the other side of the pole. Looks just as good, so try it. This is the exact picture I showed Alethea in my private and she seemed to think this was the same.

For the life of me I cannot find the thread from back at the beginning of the year when the photo first surfaced.

This is a similar foot positioning…..to me it is not so pretty as the foot that is holding the pole is really strange looking.  Impressive but the lines get all messed up.  (this is me, you may think differently)

Is this from a twisted grip? Did you hook the foot then release the top hand? Very pretty!!!

Chem that pic looks like a single handed bow and arrow.  You get into these from layback right?
