Okay, so I posted last week about a few new moves that I got during my lesson with Karol…which was at the studio I teach at. At the studio we have 14′ brass poles. At home I have a 7.5′ X-pole. So I can’t for the life of me do any of the "new" tricks at home….but at the studio I can do them consistently! Now I know there is a difference in grip, which typically isn’t an issue, and my ceiling height at home is a good bit shorter…but this drives me nuts!!! Sometimes it is even the opposite…I can do something at home..but not at the studio! Does this happen to anyone else? And my issue isn’t with grip…it’s more body placement. Like at the studio I’ll do a knee hold and the new found Holly drop. At home I can’t even get my knee positioned correctly to even do a fricken knee hold! I’m just venting…I’ve been trying to make a vid of the new moves I’ve been working on (at home)…but can’t seem to do it! Everything caught on vid is a blooper! Ahhhhhh… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I am a perfectionist with certain things and consistency is one of them…It drives me bonkers to not be consistently consistent on both poles! Now If I were to take a brake on the brass…in about a week from now I would have everything on my x-pole and vice versa. I think it’s mental! Am I being mental??? sorry…it’s monday morning and I haven’t had nearly enough coffee!

    Thanks for letting me vent!!

    Me too!

I think mine is mostly a grip issue- but sometimes it’s a space issue. Othertimes it’s a someone watching that makes me really not want to fail on this g’damn move!

When I took classes I used to get that – it was mostly being able to watch the other people around me do it so I could get a better visual of what I was doing. At home I’m on my own unless I pull up a video on the computer =P Also having the ceiling so much closer was kind of daunting for me, especially inverting. It may be 8 feet but I still feel like I’m going to hit it, just because I got so used to the great high ceilings at the studio!

the thing is…usually when I practice at the studio there are no other people there watching..so it’s not like performance induced success! I just don’t get it!
