So, I’ve got these awesome, beautiful black pole shoes that I LOVE, and I love the way I look in them… but I never wear them when I dance!
I picked up shoes a little far into my pole journey, so when I put them on, I feel like I’m all the way back at square one- I can barely walk in them, barely land when I’m spinning (and that is, in fact, how I broke my shoes the second time I wore them- they’re fixed now), and climbing and aerial tricks results in a lot of foot-flailing and scratching up my shins!
So, how did you get used to your pole shoes? Was it difficult at first, but not for too long? Or, should I be expecting a few months of flaily, scratchy, wobbly unfortunateness?
Any advice to get me in my pretty shoes?

Oh yes I hear ya even when I put mine on now I still feel a bit awkward in them lol you just gotta wear them all the time to get used to them… But I became a bit lazy and stopped wearing them lol because some times I just enjoy the freedom of not wearing them but I love them because they make my legs look longer can’t have the best of both worlds it seems 🙁 but I’m gonna stick with my 6 inch glitter heels for my next few months of training because I’m in a show in sept and I would like to be different and wear heels as not many gals seem too at our club.

I can totally relate, i love to wear heels but am still working on doing my heels proud, it’s a lot of work to wear them and not look clumsy and wobbly! this may sound silly but for me i practiced vacuuming and doing dishes in mine in the beginning, i actually still do sometimes, it can makes house work more fun, i know crazy! Also practicing pole walks and finding your walk without the pole Can help feel more comfy too. So that’s how i got a little more cozy with my stilts. hope it helps!!

@shoogstandley there’s nothing silly about vacuuming in heels! Lol I do it all the time, it gives a little added workout to the boring things in life… And embarrasses the crap out of my kids.

Haha, that’s actually how I get used to some of my more “normal” heels! I wander around the house, doing chores and whatnot. I am super not used to heels of any kind… my pole heels are like a different world for my feet!
I’ve really noticed that, since running, my ankles are much stronger, and I can stay on my toes for a lot longer. However, my heels are still wobbly! I do dance on carpet (nowhere else in the house I can go, sadly), so I’m sure that’s not helping!

I have a pair of beater shoes, also known as trainers. I use them to get used to poling in heels and don’t care if they get ruined, hence the term beater.
