I had a great week! I nailed a hook spin and a few other things I was practicing. I started using grips on my ankles and knees and got some really good climbing.
Typically I climb on my static pole. I got all the way up to the top and did a nice pole sit. I have no idea what to do then. It’s about 10 feet up. I just slid down. Seemed pretty lackluster.

I tried it on my spinning pole but was curious, how to get the pole spinning once you are up there. I feel like I could come out of the pole sit up there and into a hook spin or something a little flashier. I’m still a newbie. 😉 Thoughts?

Congrats on your progress! Maybe try starting with a slow spinning climb. Just push off lightly with one foot as you start, it really doesn’t take much momentum. Standing up straight on the pole (or pulling your body in) will generally make you go faster, and bending at the knees or extending a limb will help slow you down. Keeping momentum going in certain positions can be tricky, it just takes a lot of trial and error to learn what works 😊 There’s a lot of pretty movements you can do with a pole sit, just have fun and play around!

Yay, great progress! There isn’t away to get the pole to start spinning once you’re off the floor, other than pushing off of the ceiling! You’ll want to start the spin from the floor and work on maintaining it as you climb. Sweeping the legs and arms help keep momentum going as you move into other positions as long as your going in the right direction! This section has some spinning pole lessons if you haven’t seen them yet, they’re all listed towards the end of the section and are placed in order of difficulty. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view_category/quick-lessons
